Oh, pullleeeeeeze! This is a stroke of brilliance. I really don't want to explain why because the reasons have basically nothing to do with talent (which, by the way, with respect to Keyshawn is much more of a debatable issue than is indicated in the post above) and all to do with the all-important "intangibles" of the game, of life, and the explanation of which will probably come off as "condescending". If someone else gets what I am saying and wants to explain it, please do. I just don't feel like getting into a week-long argument over it and wasting colossal amounts of time because of ego's and ... getting in the way (of reason)...

| This my friend, is why YOUR the one with the "ego." I respect your opinion and insulting comments like those are truly un-called for. Yes, I get the bigger picture. I'm assuming your talking about his "detrimental" comments towards the team, and almost everyone's supposed assumption that it's all about him. They need a shake-up at the WR position, but as I stated in my last post, de-activating KJ with play-off contention still in grasp, but far from reach, is just ridiculous. They need all the help they can possibly get to get into the playoffs. If they wanted to trade KJ after the season, so be it, as I ALSO stated in my last post, if the trade got them equal or better talent then that of KJ's. Yes, his statistics can be debateable as to whether or not he is an elite WR. Though, honestly, the Tampa Bay system just doesn't seem to work on getting him the ball, or atleast ALLOWING him to get the ball. They need a speed WR to compliment him, and then I am sure of this, a rise in his production will not be unheard of.

When he was in Oakland, he and Gannon were the most hated guys with the team. But it got results. I won't argue stats or philosophy on this one. But I do know that the team is like the military in its own way. Right or wrong, someone has to be in charge. And everyone else needs to know how to be a part of the team. Otherwise the only thing you have to do to get the ball is make noise. Who are your greatest heros in the NFL? In a backwards way, this is the same kind of fight Elway won in Denver. In this one, Chuckie was in charge and made his decision. He had the option to do it. Only time will tell if he was right. But if Keyshawn does well elsewhere, that's where he should be. Not in TB. |
| Actually, Callie, what you state above is really VERY poignant. In a weird way, one could even parallel it to what goes on here on occasion, i.e. some of the angst people have toward me when I "do my thing" here to "mold" the place how I want. Analogy: Gruden, the Head Coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is to StegRock, Owner and Administrator of "the Gridiron @ FantasyFootballer.com", as Keyshawn Johnson, player, is to (__________), member. on Nov 18th, 2003, 9:29pm, Mossaholic wrote:| The only peple that think Keshawn is better than Marvin Harrison is Keshawn and kesawn's mom. |

| Yeah, because a KJ76yards is such a weird weird name. I never stated, nor thought, that Keyshawn was a much more talented WR then Harrison. Though, to put it in perspective for you all, he is the fastest reciever to 600 receptions, behind only whom? Marvin Harrison. He only catches 80-90 balls a year for a 14 ryp/g. The system wasn't built for Keyshawn. The Bucs aren't trying to win, they're trying to make a "statement" and put the blame of their poor performance on one player, that being Johnson. I have yet to see his interview, but I am sure his interview was only given after the fact that the Tampa Bay Organization just TRASHED him after they told him not to go public with this situation. He retaliated, he didn't strike first, he struck back. This doesn't make sense to do, at this time of the season. This is something that should have been handled in the OFF-season. Barry Bonds a cancer? He only hits 50+ HRs a game...

| Yea, I'm not so sure about the Barry Bonds assertion, either... But, anyway, this is a FOOTBALL forum!
