Champ Bailey - Where will he go?

WOW!  Living in Washington, I must say this is unbelievable news.  Champ is an incredible player in a 'must have' position.  He is only 25 years old.  4 time pro-bowler.  Many questions as to why ?  THe main reason is the Skins and Bailey can't seem to agree on a contract.

Other factors to include:

Skins can Franchise Bailey
Skins can refuse to trade to certain teams
Bailey can stick it to the Skins
THIS REALLY MAKES ME BELIEVE THAT THE SKINS WILL TAKE SEAN TAYLOR OUT OF MIAMI WITH THE 5th PICK.

Here is the article:

Got this little nugget off "The REAL Feed":

Champ a Chief?
About.com: Football (15.02.2004 14:56)

Here is a link to the whole piece:

http://football.about.com/b/a/065325.htm.

In it are links to various other rumor mills on this topic.

Enjoy!

OK, here is rumor:

http://www.tribnet.com/sports/football/seahawks/story/4771451p-4715678c. html

RUMOR:

This rumor makes some sense.  The Skins would do a player for player trade.  Gibbs would get a running back who plays the style he covets and the the Seahawks would get a shut down corner which they need.

What is the rumor?  Shaun Alexander straight up for Champ Bailey.

This is such a juicy rumor I had to post it.

Not so fast Dirk.
The Skins are now talking to DENVER for Portis.
Denver wants Bailey and this year 2nd rounder for Portis. The Skins wnated an even up deal. The Skins don't have a 2nd because they will give that up to JAX for Mark Bru(over the HILL)nell.
I have a simple solution: deal the players and swap 1st rounders. HA!
This is becoming very interesting. Especially to any Quentin Griffin owners out there.

Uh yes.  This deal seems close to happening.  BUT, Griffin is not the only player the Donkeys like.  While Griffin has the inside track, I am not so sure he will get the nod over Anderson(who MAYBE cut) and Ahmaad Galloway.

Just doin' my homework...  Here are the official reports from "the Gridiron Newsstand" and "The REAL Feed" on this would-be WHOPPER of a trade:

As to this peripherally related discussion, while I personally as a Broncomaniac would like to see them go with Mike Anderson as their #1 tailback if this Bailey-Portis deal actually goes through, it seems as though he would be the odd-man-out according to this local report off "the Gridiron Newsstand":

http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/broncos/article/0,1299,DRMN_17_267 6142,00.html.

I, for one, just do not think Griffin is the answer... too small and way too unproven.

Looks like Portis for Bailey is more than just another rumor...

http://www.gbnreport.com/

I have to admit, I never saw this one coming.  I thought Portis was firmly entrenched in Denver.

I read the same article Stegey. I would like to see Anderson go somewhere else too. He is a bit long in the tooth now, but still a solid player. Even though he has only been in the league for 4 yrs and will be 31 in September '04.
A guy who lives in Den has told me that they are going to go with Griffin. He is a a bit short, but so was Emmitt. He actually is built like Emmitt. Emmitt is listed at 5'10", but really is only 5'8.5". Griffin is no Emmitt of course, but worth noting. I am not comparing him to Emmitt by any means, but small guys can produce. Dunn is 5'7" , not a stud, but does produce decent stats.
I know my comments are more from the hopeful side since I have him in 1 league. So just disregard all this BS talk.

Griffin did look good when given the opportunity, but what is he, like 4'11" or something?    Anyway, he is probably too small to be an every-down back, but the Broncos seem to be able to find a solid back in the draft every year.

Looks like Champ is all but in Denver to stay according to the initial posts of this thread:

http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/cgi-bin/theGridiron/YaBB.cgi?board=55;a ction=display;num=1078168190.

As a I like this.  I think Denver will come up with someone to run the ball.  Their secondary is... was of MUCH greater concern.

Okay, as per sources available on "the Gridiron Newsstand", here is where the Bailey-to-Denver part of the deal stands on its own apart from where the Portis-to-Washington part of the deal stands:

AP Report -
http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review/sports/steelerslive/s_182 224.html;

Local Report -

Well, ESPN just reported that Champ Bailey and the Broncos have already agreed to a 7-year, $63 million deal.  Only protocol holds this deal up now.
