Vikings Offseason Report

Straight off "The REAL Feed"...

Vikings agree to terms with WR Robinson
NFL.com (08.03.2004 20:32)
The Minnesota Vikings agreed to terms with free-agent wide receiver Marcus Robinson, whose career experienced a brief renaissance in Baltimore.

Looks like the Vikes got a guy to work opposite Moss, AND Owens now has one less guy to compete with for balls in Baltimore.  If M. Rob can regain just some of the magic that he had back in Chicago and that he showed flashes of last year, they'd have some nice receiving duo in Minnesota. ...

Robinson will be a nice addition to the Vikes. Tice has already stated that he will start on the other side of Moss. They got him at a good price and will compliment Moss well. That's a 6'3" and a 6'4" reciever.

Vikes are doing well at spending there money this season. Winfield being the best thing that has happened so far. He is a huge addition to the Vikes D.

Next: The Vikes need to address the Kicker situation, a DE and OLB.

I can hear the rest of the NFC North Shaking in their boots already.

Hopefully, he will "complement" Moss well, as well.

Sorry, Mossman, I couldn't resist.  The "Comedy Club Gang of Smilies" there made me do it!

Actually I think the reason the Vikes signed Marcus Robinson is because he said nice things about Randy Moss -- hence the "compliment" reference.

Who knows?  Steggie's windows say...  650 to 1,000 yards (pretty wide-open) and 5 to 7 touchdowns.

With the signing of Robinson the Vikes decided they do not need Bates around any longer . Not big news but someone might be interested

HOW ABOUT THEM VIKES!!

The Vikes continue to do an excellant job with free agents

They addressed the need for a punter and signed Darren Bennett. A huge step up from Eddie Johnson who struggled all last year.

http://vikings.kfan.com/sports/nflguide/local/story.aspx?content_id=351E 455E-9B27-40D2-B252-906FB055BD43

Also the Vikes sign Jermaine Wiggins to play a backup role to K-Sasser

http://vikings.kfan.com/sports/nflguide/local/story.aspx?content_id=C62F D14D-02B5-4BBD-BE89-1412B46D8095

Now only if the Vikes can get Ogunleye from the Dolphins without giving up their first pick.

The Vikings will host the Tuna's Cowboys   on Sept. 12. It will be the second game of Fox's doubleheader to open the season.

It also appears the Vikings will be without DE Kenny Mixon for the C-Boys game and a few others. He was convicted of his third DUI  in two years last week. He will be sentenced on Thursday and will most likely also be suspended by the NFL.

I DIGRESS...
I have NO clue why this thread occasionally seemingly automatically bumps up to the top of the list without an appended new post. Does anybody know what's up?  Is someone doing an "invisible" bump, i.e. bumping it up with a "bump" post and then deleting the post?  I'd just like to know because it's bothersome ... and I do not want to have to lock or delete the thread thinking there is something technically wrong with it.  On the other hand, feel free to bump threads if you think it's a good idea.  Just leave your "bump" post appended.

I do not know what is happening but you can't lock the Viking thread. And for some Vike news

Kenny Mixon was sentenced to 30 days for the DWI

Mossman, fret not...  If it were to be found that there is something technically wrong with this thread and I was forced to lock it, I would start another "Vikings Offseason Report" thread and would link from it to this one.

Figured it was time to update the Vikings thread.

Moss might sit out minicamp and rest his foot. I say that if it isn't a 110% sit him out

E.J. Henderson gets his first DUI. Henderson is the third 2003 Viking draft choice to get a DUI in the past nine months . What up with the Vikes and the DUIs. Something needs to be done.

As expected Biekert decided to retire. I was hoping that he would stick around and take more of a coaching and leadership role with the young LBs.

Also Moss is still bothered by his foot but is practicing.

Yea, what is up with this foot injury of Moss's?  He claims that he'll only be playing at 85% this season. Granted his 85% may be better than over half the league's wideout's 100%, but you can't like hearing that from a fantasy perspective...  From top tier to upper middle class would be a MAJOR dropoff in what you'd expect out of the kind of pick you'd be using on him.  Here's the bead on "the Gridiron Newsstand":
