Staley could have been a Lion

Found this on PFW: Lions tried to get running back Duce Staley, but failed. The Lions offered more money than the Steelers to RB Duce Staley but were left at the altar when Staley decided to stay in Pennsylvania, jumping from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh. Staley would have been the Lions’ starter and, in head coach Steve Mariucci’s opinion, the ideal West Coast-offense running back. The Lions also were interested in Charlie Garner, whom Mariucci coached in San Francisco, but Garner quickly signed with the Buccaneers and was “way out” of the Lions’ price range. … So, they still need a running back. Do they take Steven Jackson or Jones with their first round pick? If so, do they trade down a little to get one of the two? Or, do they get a player like Hearst and address their pathetic defense? Stay tuned:
