WINDOWS 2004 - Arizona Cardinals

No, this isn't a new Microsoft operating system release.  This is your opportunity to share your statistical "windows" for players on each of the NFL teams.  Our fearless leader (and founder of the FantasyFootballer.com Gridiron), StegRock, refers to these statistical ranges as "windows" and, to show, due deference, I will continue that modus operandi.

Every day or two I'll post a new team.  Put your estimated 2004 statistics for players on that team in the thread.  If enough people participate, these threads should produce some pretty helpful information for player rankings leading up to your drafts.

Feel free to give windows for as many players as you feel confident.  If you play IDP, go ahead and include some defensive player statistics as well.  You can just list the player with the windows or you can give reasons for your rankings as well.  Discussions of others' rankings are welcome too.

QB
Josh McCown - 3500-3750 PaYds, 17-20 TDs, 20-25 INTs, 350-400 RuYds, 1-3 TDs
He's still unproven, although new coach Denny Green loves to throw the ball.  Look for some nice numbers but plenty of mistakes.

RB
Marcel Shipp - 900-1100 RuYds, 6-8 TDs, 200-250 ReYds, 1 TD
Emmitt Smith - 250-350 RuYds, 3 TDs, 100-150 ReYds
Shipp HAS to do better than last year when he had ZERO rushing TDs.  Please, Emmitt, retire.

WR
Anquan Boldin - 1000-1200 ReYds, 6-8 TDs
Bryant Johnson - 700-850 ReYds, 3-5 TDs
Larry Fitzgerald - 400-600 ReYds, 3-4 TDs
Nate Poole - 300-350 ReYds, 1 TD
Boldin will do well, but too many hands wanting the ball this year.  Johnson will be much better than last year and Fitzgerald will be a nice complement as a rook, but not much else.

TE
Freddie Jones - 300-400 ReYds, 4-6 TDs
He'll be a great backup on a fantasy team, however he won't have any more big seasons.

QB
Josh McCown:  Who knows at this point... if he'll even be the starter come season's start?

RB
Marcel Shipp:  900 - 1200 yards, 6 - 9 TD's rushing & 250 - 450 yards, 2 - 4 TD's receiving
Emmitt Smith:  barring an injury to Shipp, a fantasy non-factor

WR
Anquan Boldin:  950 - 1250 yards, 6 - 10 TD's receiving
Larry Fitzgerald:  550 - 950 yards, 5 - 9 TD's receiving
Bryant Johnson:  400 - 800 yards, 4 - 7 TD's receiving

I don't do tight ends!  Sorry!

Ultimately, the windows on the Arizona players are VERY wide-open for '04!  We really won't know what we've got there until they hit the field and even then probably not until about Week 3 or 4 of the season.

Also of note, I did not "consult" Philly's first.  So, any consistencies have come about "naturally"!

Philly, this is a great idea!  There is a lot of analysis that can be put together from this in a unique way.  I was toying with the idea of sharing my projections with everyone, but I didn't want it to be the same old boring projections.  Anyhow, if I could be of any help with this let me know.

The irony is that my hard drive crashed... taking all my projections with it.  Barring further computer problems, I will post my windows at least by Sunday.

Feel free to post them any time.  I'm going to put up the next ones soon so we can get through all the teams in a reasonable amount of time.

However, I encourage everyone to think about participating at some point.  This could be a great tool to help everyone get ready for their league drafts.

This could be the start of an annual event on the Gridiron that would help set us apart from the rest of the fantasy sites...

Key :
TK = solo & assist combined.
PD = pass defense.
SK = sacks.
TO = turnovers : interceptions, Forced Fumbles AND fumble recoveries.
DTD = defensive TDs.

Commentary below each position will give you my opinion and rate adjustments for players windows.
Defensive TDs are based on "potential" and NOT what I think each player is a "shoe-in" to get. DTDs are too difficult to predict.

LBs
Ron McKinnon 125 TK, 2 PD,1.5 SK, 4 TO,.
Raynoch Thompson 115 TK, 5 PD, 3.5 SK, 3 TO. 1DTD.
The SSLB position is up for grabs between Karlos Dansby, L.Fisher (knee surgery!) and possibly another LB in the mix. McKinnon is getting old but has yet to be beaten out of his position. Look for Raynoch's stats to fire upwards in the Big Play department as he will be moved around in order to take advantage of his spped & athleticism.

DL
Bertrand Berry: 45 TK, 4 PD, 1 TO, 8.5 SK.
Berry is the only DL guy worth predicting. Pace will most likely be sent to the bench and the Left DE end position is WIDE open for competition.

DBs
Dex. Jackson: 85 TK, 10 PD, 6 TO, 0.5 SK, 2 DTD.
Adrian Wilson: 100 TK, 5 PD, 3 SK, 5 TO, 1 DTD.
Duane Starks: 50 TK, 15 PD, 9 TO, 1 DTD.
D.Macklin: 75 TK, 6 PD, 2 TO.
Strength of the defense is right here. With Berry & Thompson (and possibly Dansby) adding a little more pressure to the defensive front, look for secondary to increase their Turnovers from last season.

QB
Josh McCown - 2700-3500 PaYds, 18-22 TDs, 19-23 INTs, 150-250 RuYds, 1-3 TDs
It'll be interesting to watch the offense with Denny and all these talented WRs.  I am still not sold on McCown being the right QB, or I would move these numbers up.

RB
Marcel Shipp - 800-1000 RuYds, 2-4 TDs, 175-225 ReYds, 0-1 TD
Emmitt Smith - not worth projecting
Shipp isn't the answer at RB either.

WR
Anquan Boldin - 1200-1500 ReYds, 5-7 TDs
Bryant Johnson - 400-650 ReYds, 1-3 TDs
Larry Fitzgerald - 500-900 ReYds, 6-10 TDs
Boldin and Fitzgerald are both for real and IMO compliment one another well.  Boldin will rack up yards and Fitzgerald will get the TDs.

TE
Freddie Jones - 450-550 ReYds, 1-3 TDs

QB
Josh McCown - 2800-3400 PaYds, 18-22 TDs, 17-20 INTs, 150-250 RuYds, 1-3 TDs
I am a fan of Josh like his coach is. He has some young talent to throw to, that's for sure.

RB
Marcel Shipp - 1000-1200 RuYds, 4-7 TDs, 150-225 ReYds, 0-2 TDs
Emmitt Smith - please retire.

WR
Anquan Boldin - 1200-1500 ReYds, 5-7 TDs
Bryant Johnson - 400-650 ReYds, 1-3 TDs
Larry Fitzgerald - 500-900 ReYds, 6-10 TDs

Boldin, Fitzgerald and Johnson form a nice young trio of receivers for McCown to grow with.Throw in an experienced TE like Jones and a back like Shipp, and you have some nice receiving weapons. bgsgfan's numbers look about right.

TE
Freddie Jones - 450-550 ReYds, 1-3 TDs
Nice safety valve for young QB McCown.
