What would you do?

I have the eigth pick in a keeper league draft. There is only 8 teams ( I was told that it was going to be 10 teams but I guess that it fell through)  so I also have the 9th pick. They restarted this league so everyone is going to start fresh. I was wondering if I should go RB/RB or go with RB/Moss if he is available. I only know one person in this league and he said that he can almost gurantee the first seven picks will be LT2, Holmes, Portis, Green, Alexander, Lewis, and Duece. That would leave Edge, Taylor, Barlow. What would you do?

Scoring is 10yds receiving/rushing = 1pt, all tds 6pts with an extra 4pts for tds longer than 40 yards.

Today, on the pole, I would go Barlow then Moss.  It's going to be a long time until you're back up.

I'm a firm believer in the stud WR theory.  Take Moss and Harrison.  No one will beat your WR's.  You will still be able to pick up seviceable backs later and there are always a few you can snag off the FA list during the year.  It's a gamble but that's what I would do!

I personally would go Edge, Moss. Second choice, Taylor, Moss.  As I have mentioned at various times here in "the Red Zone", I do NOT think Barlow is set up for success this year with that team,... that line, that receiving corp, that head coach, the inexperience at quarterback.  Their fullback's being dinged up doesn't help the matter, either.

I WOULD EITHER GO EDGE AND RUDI JOHNSON( I THINK HE IS IN FOR A HUGE YEAR).

I JUST HAPPEN TO DO A DRAFT FOR A FRIEND OF MINE YESTERDAY IN WHERE IT WAS A TEN TEAM LEAGUE AND HE TOLD ME TO TAKE 2 OUT OF THE TOP 5 WR (HAD THE 9TH PICK AND 12TH).  I GOT HARRISON AND HOLT AND IN THE NEXT ROUND I ALSO GOT CHAD JOHNSON.  LUCKILY ENOUGH I WAS STILL ABLE TO GET RUDY JOHNSON(TOTAL FLUKE AT THIS STAGE IN DRAFT), WHO I CONSIDER  POSSIBLE TOP TEN RB.  ALSO T JONES AND D STALEY.  THAT WAS A HUGE RISK BUT I WILL KILL AT WR EVERYWEEK GUARANTEED.

JUST A LITTLE TO MULL OVER.

Needs a team around him, like LT2?

With only 8 teams and starting 2 RBs and 3 WRs, I would be tempted to go with Moss and Holt.  I would definitely use one of the picks on a WR.  With only 16 starting RBs, the usual concern on RB depth is basically gone.  Being a keeper league, I would drop Taylor's value a smidgeon.

1.  Moss and Holt
2.  Moss and Edge
3.  Moss and Barlow
4.  Moss and Taylor

Did I miss how MANY keepers do you get to keep?

Being a keeper league, I think you are crazy if you do NOT take a running back.  For years and years you will not have a running back.

There are always RB's and WR's that emerge throughout the year.  In an 8 team league it is highly unlikely that these players are drafted.  I would take the "studs" that are on the board.  I will guarantee that you get decent (serviceable) RB's later in the draft (Chris Brown, Griffiths, or one of the rookie backs).  No one will be able to match your stud WR's.  Just keep your eye on the FA pool early in the year (for guys like Hollings - that aren't drafted).  Remember Rudi Johnson, Dom Davis, and Brian Westbrook?  Most were not drafted in 12 team leagues last year.  Just my opinion!

We get to keep 5 players. I should have mentioned that earlier.

I am surprised that many like the WR/WR theory. It was something that I was thinking about. I played in a 8 team redraft league a couple of years ago and the owner with the 8th pick went Moss and Harrison and found (lucky) a couple of RBs later that were good enough and went on to win the league.

Thanks for all the responses.

Thanks for all the input everyone had the draft last night. The first seven picks went exactly as planned and I jumped on Moss and Edge. After that everyone went QB and WR happy I was able to grab Barlow (I know you like that Philly) when it came back around. Thanks again

Nice work!  You have a couple workhorse starters at RB there.  Not a bad WR either.
