I just dont agree with most current rankings when it comes to Barlow.  I have kept tabs on this guy when Hearst was his teammate and he has shown flashes of potential while sharing time.

After the exodus of talent that has recently victimized San Fran,  how can experts still rank him in the top 10 in some rankings?

I think we can all agree that Barlow is no Tomlinson,  however, they are in similar situations and defenses are most certainly going to be stacking the line.  I even have a problem with Tomlinson being a concensus top 2 or 3 overall pick.

This is one question mark that still bothers me as i prepare to draft this Saturday...4 days from now.  i usually play it safe with my 1st selection and will have no problems letting someone else believe the hype when it comes to Barlow.

Tomlinson on the other hand will most likely find a way to get his...but he will see a substantial decrease in numbers this year.

If i am missing something please let me know

No, you aren't. Teams will soon realize San Francisco will have a weak passing attack and will stack the box with 8, daring Rattay (or Dorsey) to beat them.

It will be a long season fantasy wise for the 49er players.

I agree with you on Barlow.  He went 30th overall in my league, so it seems you're not the only one.

I disagree with you on LT2 though.  They stacked the line on him last year and he managed a record breaking year.  He'll do it again.

While splitting time with Hearst in 2003, Barlow was still able to rush for 1000 yards and had a sweet 5.1 yards per carry average.  Add in the fact that he is a decent pass receiver who averaged 8.8 yards per catch on 35 receptions.  Plus, Barlow has a better o-line than San Diego does, so he'll get his yards and scores.

1. Holmes
2. Tomlinson
3. Green
4. Portis
5. Alexander
6. McAllister
7. James
8. Lewis
9. Taylor
10...?

Barlow fits right around #10 somewhere.  Dom Davis might be ranked ahead of him, but Barlow doesn't have his injury concerns.

YES, guruhugh!!!  It doesn't take long hanging around here to know that I have been beating this drum for some time now.  Barlow will disappoint this year.  People are expecting him to be in the bottom half of the top 10, some are thinking even higher.  He'll end up somewhere around 18 to 25 with some "surprise guys" like Westbrook, Domanick Davis, Martin (not really a surprise, just a lack of respect for Curtis), someone in Denver perhaps, Dillon (again, no surprise, just mentioning because he does seem to be falling between the cracks this year), Rudi, McGahee and/or Henry (with a trade of one of them looming), Chris Brown, Lee Suggs, Thomas Jones, Stephen Davis (another forgotten one), Tiki, Faulk (if he stays healthy) or Jackson (if he doesn't), someone in Minnesota, and maybe even Tyrone Wheatley and Charlie Garner.  To me, Barlow is WAY more on par with this litany of guys, rather than the list of studs Philly gave.
