Onterrio Smith might not be available for the Monday Night Football game against the Eagles as a ruling on his appeal could come down this week.

I believe the league notifies players and teams on Monday's of suspension/appeal decisions so they can plan the next game accordingly.   From what the Minny papers are reporting, that would leave him available for this weeks game.  This link is a few days old though.

It would make sense if teams had advance notice.  Your article says teams are "typically" notified on Monday, however I wonder if there are exceptions...?

There is speculation now that Onterrio's decision may not come until the week of October 4th.  How convenient for the Vikes... that's the bye week and Bennett is expected back the following week.  Hmm... what kind of message is the league sending here.

Moe is out for this Monday.   So the once super-deep Vikes are down to Ricky Williams protege   and a rookie!

Moe is a tough guy, and I wonder if this isn't preventative measures in case OSmith gets hit with his suspension next week.

It is working out very well for the Vikes. I wonder how unusaul this is for a suspension to take so long. It is also surprising because I don't think that McCombs is the most popular guy with the NFL executives.

I think you are right

Yep, he's starting Monday.  No decision on his appeal from the NFL yet, but I can't imagine they would spring it on them Monday and make it effective for that nights game.  I guess there is that small chance, but I wouldn't worry.
