Nice analysis... however I think the Eagles will have a little more success running the ball than you do... The birds have some good run blockers and Brian Westbrook is one nice RB.

Post-Game Analysis
Never thought Urlacher would sit.  That made a big difference in OSmith's receiving #s.  He rushed for a bit more than I thought, which is understandable without Urlacher, but the RAC on his 6 receptions was the big story.   He ended up with 104 yds receiving    !

CPepp grabbed the goal line TD I slated for Moe Williams, and Burleson and Campbell benefited from, yet ANOTHER hammy injury to Robinson.

On the other side of the ball, the Bears were predictable enough.   TJ, TJ, and a bit more TJ.  30 touches for the workhorse and he made the most of them, racking up 181 total yards.

Key matchup of RT vs Ogunleye was won by the Viking O-line.  I know, strange to say, because Ogunleye got 2 sacks, and CPepp did his share of scrambling to try to avoid more sacks; however, he at least had time to attempt some longer pass plays, something he didn't have vs PHI.  That made a big difference in loosening up the D for OSmith.

The Vikings did everything they could to give this one away.  11 penalties and 2 TOs kept Chicago in this one.  Add further injuries this week to LB and center Matt Birk.  But it's always a tough game against Chicago, just is.

Vikings are happy to get the win going into the bye, but this one raises more question marks than a loss in PHI did!  Vikings have to figure out a way to avoid breakdowns in the red zone on offense, and penalties that set them in long downs.

GO VIKES!   AND COLTS!

Check out the Vikings team report!   RB injuries hitting in waves today have a rookie and a practice squad player getting a lot of snaps!

Not too serious, he should be ready for gameday.  He won't get practice reps though, and he could aggravate the thing in the game when effort/speed gets ramped up.

Moe is a great start if he stays healthy, but risky because he may not.   How's that for talking outta both sides of my mouth!

Also, looks like Moe is not going to start.  I can only imagine they're trying to be careful with him in case Mewelde goes down, but I'd rather see Moe starting here.  Maybe his injury is more than I thought.

Because of injuries and byes, I've got Mewelde starting in my money league, so I hope he gets the carries.  Your prediction (125 yards and a TD) would be more than enough.  (It's either him or Steven Jackson, who is getting some work, but not enough yet.)

Post Week 5 Analysis
This game played out pretty predictably.  I think the Vikings D is pretty disappointed with their 4th quarter collapse.  As forecasted in the Game Analysis' Key Matchup, Viking LBs were key to stopping the short passing game, which Carr used quite effectively in the 4th.   The Texans won the battle, but the Vikings won the war.

Mewelde was even more effective than I thought, kudos to any GMs who grabbed him and started him.

Robinson is the biggest suprise to me.   I thought Kelly Campbell would be the big play guy in this one, but he got a calf injury and played little.  Robinson took advantage of the increased opps and chalked up a huge game!   While it may be prudent to grab him as a bye week fill-in, I don't see this type of production coming reliably.   Burleson & Wiggins (who returns this week) will still dilute his looks going forward.

All in all, a good road win.   The "outdoors on grass" monkey has at least been eased somewhat.

GO VIKES!   AND TITANS!

Hey gang!   Week 6 analysis and forecast is up on the Viking Team Report.

There's also an update on the RB situation.  This is probably the last week you have clear sailing in the Minny backfield.  It's gonna get muddy and murky again next week!

Week 6 review

Wow!     Over 600 yards of offense!

I'll try not to separate my shoulder when I pat myself on the back for this weeks forecast.  I managed to hit very close to actual on most of the yardage expectations!

The Vikings certainly ran the ball very effectively as predicted, but the "temper expectations" on the passing game was off!  The Vikings came out throwing and simply torched the Saints secondary who, even with McKenzie starting, simply had no business being on the field this Sunday night.  CPepp threw long, deep and often, racking up another 5 TDs!  He's certainly showing a better understanding of the field, the offense, the defensive recognition, and overall game management.   This kid is sick this year, and MVP sentiments are already circling in Minneapolis.

Hopefully some of you took the advice on Moore, MRob & Burleson as all performed as advertised.   Burleson shined and almost doubled the predicted output.  He didn't find paydirt as expected though, as Wiggins returned to the lineup with a bang!  With 2 TDs & 56 yards, Wiggins' tenure on the waiver wire Tuesday morning was a little longer than a Britney Spears wedding, but not much!

The most telling performance was the most unsung though.  This was far and away the best performance by the Viking OLine this year.  Losing Rosenthal had an effect, and rookie Nat Dorsey has taken a couple weeks to come around, but he's beginning to be a very servicable RT.

The D still has significant issues though.  The DLine simply cannot pressure the QB.  When Brooks and Carr can pick you apart, it doesn't bode well for playoff time when the likes of McNabb & Hasselbeck will do far worse.  The Vikings must find a way to get pressure.  Once the LB core gets a little more healthy, expect the D to start DOGging a bit more and creating a bit more havoc.

Overall, a good win.  And with 2 weaker Ds coming to the Metrodome the next couple weeks, expect Daunte to continue his inferno for a couple more weeks!

Hey guys and gals!  Week 8 analysis vs. the geeeeeemen is up!

If you've got Moss, make sure you read it.  He's probable, but I don't think he'll be used as much as he will be when completely healthy.

It probably wasn't too hard to detect the trepidation about the Giants game when you read the Week 8 Analysis.  As it turns out, that trepidation turned to stomach turning gore on Sunday.  Much of the analysis, as it turns out, was spot on:
Tiki Barber shredded the Viking defense
The already marginal Viking LBs probably played their worst game of the season.  Several play action plays had Roanall Smith and Dont. Thomas completely out of position.  However, their inability to stop Barber running up the middle was even more glaring than expected.
The Viking DLine got some nice pressure on Warner to handle the Giants passing game
They were able to get a lot of pressure on Warner.  The Giants passing game was not what hurt the Vikes.
Shockey was too much for the Vikings to handle
Some great catches by the Mouth of the East, and probably should've had a score.

The circumstances unforseen turned out to be the poor play the Vikings offense.  Some credit is certainly due the Giants D; safety Wilson played a great game, but passes dropped and poorly thrown were the main reason for the Viking futility.  Moss continued to be a non-factor, and is not much of a decoy anymore.  There's already talk of sitting him completely until he's back 100%, so stay tuned if you're a Moss owner.

Another unpredicted aspect was Moore's sprained ankle, though injuries are always a wildcard.  Bennett came in and performed well in relief.  Moore, if healthy, will still start vs. IND on MNF, but expect all the other Minny RBs (OSmith, Moe & Bennett) to get touches next week.

The Key Matchup was certainly dominated by Strahan.  He walked down the line on several running plays away from him and made the play.  He, Hand, Robbins & Wilson were huge defensively for the Giants.

Finally, should you be worried if you're a CPepp owner?  Was it time to trade him last week?   Cool your jets, oh over-reactant one!   Yes, CPepp had a bad game, but all the best QBs in the league will do so at least once this season.  He remains an every week starter and probably bounces back with a 4TD game next week vs. the putrid Colt D.

A poor loss at home vs. a team that seems to have the Vikings # the last 4 years, but the team seems to be shaking it off, and so should Viking owners.  Moss owners are the only ones that need to be a bit worried, and hopefully that hammy heals soon.

Just a heads up to all you Moss owners.   Check out the Viking Team Report.   I estimate some pretty significant ramifications to the rest of the Viking offensive players too; if Moss doesn't go, I don't think anyone but CPepp warrants a start this week.

Hopefully some of you "bench CPepp"ers out there have come to your senses!   This was a valiant effort by the Vikes, who had a win stolen from them by one of the worst officiating crews in the NFL.  2 fumbles called incorrectly in 1 game!

Still, DC was awesome and continues to eliminate his critics.  Wiggins has become one of the must start TEs of the league.   He had a great over-the-outside-shoulder catch for a TD this week.

But the real gem is Burleson, who is really suprising me with his maturation the last couple weeks.   You heard it here first:  Don't be suprised to see Nate get the start opposite Moss when he returns, he's earning it!

Tough loss to the fudgePackers, but @Lamebo on a short week sandwiched by road games is a tall order.

Check out the rest of the Viking news:

OSmith is the back now, so start him with confidence.  Moss is almost 100% too, so the Vikings should notch a 3rd straight win this week.
