Is O'Sullivan the guy that played really well is the pre-season.  Is this because Peterson is hurt or because he wasn't good?

I don't think this has anything to do with either of those scenarios.  The link says the Packers have liked JT for some time.  I read more into it.

I see some desperation in Packer camp regarding backup QB.  They've been content to go with Pederson for a few years, other than some silly Crouch experiment.  Now all of a sudden they bring in Couch, trade for O'Sullivan.  I smell a retirement!   Don't remember if it was here or another site, but I read that Favre is really starting to feel the wear.   Non-throwing shoulder bothers him, thumb never healed, now a concussion and a hammy bruise.   I'm thinking he's maybe got one year left and he's done.

Packers are trying desperately to find a new QB.  And who knows!   Favre came outta nowhere from Atlanta to be one of the best all time.  is JT the next!

JT O'Sullivan had an outstanding year in NFL-Europe and then played well in pre-season.

O'Sullivan is 25 years old and has been on the Packers radar (according to the team) for some time.  I think they realize that Pederson is old and is only around because he knows the offense so well.  Craig Nall has been a major disappointment.

The truth is that Favre can play there as long as he wants to... he's earned that.  However each year he seems to get more and more little nagging injuries and the fact that he was concussed yesterday probably told them to get someone in now instead of later.

I don't think they know a Favre retirement is looming, I just think they need to have their bases covered in case he can't go for some reason.
