pick up chatman and drop Bills DST?

I currently have both the Bills DST and the Panthers DST. I also have T. Jones, M. Faulk, S. Jackson and C. Taylor at RB. My question is, are the Bills potentially going to be better than the Panthers? If so, are they going to be good enough that picking up Chatman, in case of a lingering injury to LT2, is not worth it?

Unless you are in a league with 16 or more teams, it is almost worthless to keep the Bills D/ST on your roster perpetually (they can be used as a bye-week replacement or in weeks where they face Miami). The Bills do face Miami this week, and follow that up with Baltimore and Arizona. So far this season, Carolina has been the worst FF D/ST, and they just lost Jenkins - possibly their best defensive player. Neither of these defenses are worth a permanent roster spot, but with Buffalo's upcoming schedule, they will perform adequately for 3 weeks. Just don't get so enamored with that performance that you keep them after that stretch.

I love stashing good backups that are behind stud RBs. Who knows when an injury will strike? Even though I believe LT will be OK (I haven't done my homework on that front), Chatman showed last week that he may be a good back if/when LT is seriously injured.

Bottom line: drop Carolina and get Chatman.

The Panthers just lost Kris Jenkins for the season and their defense has been playing very poorly even with him.  I think the Bills defense has a better opportunity to succeed (especially this weekend, against Miami) than the Panthers does.

If you really need Chatman, dump Carolina instead.  The Bills D has a tough stretch in weeks 9-12, so you might want to play matchups at that point, but they should finish strong.

If you feel secure enough to go with only one defensive team the rest of the way, I'd drop Carolina and hold onto the Bills. Anyone have the Giants defense in your league? They've looked real good since their week 1 loss.

Update... Chatman has not practiced all week and it is believed that his injury is even more serious than the one LT2 has.  Michael Turner (rookie) has been getting the reps in practice this week, although it is expected that LT2 should be ready to go on Sunday.
