If you are in a deep keeper or dynasty league, pick up D.Ward-RB-NYG.

I have had him on my radar since the BEEginning of the seasoning (hes a rook) and he was snatched off of the Jets Practice Squad by the Giants this week.

Apparently Coughlin is fed up w/ Dayne and Ward will take over his RB duties.

This guy has talent so, BEE on the LookOut for him!

What does getting Tiki off the field "right now" have to do with this thread?

Everything? If this dude is to have any value he has to get past Tiki somehow, or else get traded. Not trying to be a smart-ass, just don't see why you would ask that.

I gave you the original thumbs up , because I've had my eye on Derrick Ward since the draft as well.  He played at a tiny school no one has ever heard of (Ottawa, KS), but did very well and graded out well and has ideal NFL size (5'11" - 230#).  I was hoping that the Jets would resolve their RB issues (i.e., dealing LaMont Jordan) and that Ward would become heir apparent there.

But then the Giants made the move for him and, ideally, he would step into the role that was created for Ron Dayne (goal-line, 3rd-short) at the beginning of the season.  However, Tiki is delivering in nearly all aspects of the game right now, so Ward isn't going to have much immediate value.

The reason I posted the line that it would be hard to get Tiki off the field was in relation to the fact that you said "Apparently Coughlin is fed up w/ Dayne and Ward will take over his RB duties."  I thought my observation related directly to that statement.

I'm not quite sure why you felt the need to get defensive after I gave you props for a good post (which is what I thought I was doing with the smiley), but do what you will...

I don't think your trying to BEE a smart ass so, np prob there at all.

But your the 2ND person that has somehow totally IGNORED my first sentence in which I clearly made emphasis to a DEEP KEEPER OR DYNASTY league.

Once again, I ask, what does getting Tiki off the field "RIGHT NOW" have to do with this thread?

And no Philster, I apologize if I seemed BEEfensive but, I just want to make clear again, my post was meant for the FUTURE and NOT right now, hence the deep keeper/dynasty portion.

The Dayne comparison was taken from an article I read, not my opinion. Even so, Dayne was never an option to replace Tiki - I am still clueless to the relation of Ward as a potential LONG TERM sleeper RB to getting Tiki off the field "right now".

By the way, THANKS for the thumbs up!!!! Yah, I remember drafting this guy in "our" rookie draft that you shaped up early on in the offseason here on the grid so, I've kept my eyes on him to. Glad you approve as well - and I hope we are both right about his potential talents!

I don't agree with your assumption of his value. But that may be my FF inexperience showing through since, I only believe in playing for dynasty/deep keeper leagues in which one could evaluate not only for the short term but also for the long term.

Also, once again, according to the article I read which I thought was authentic, (there again my subjective opinion on authenicty of some NFL reports) the plan was for him to replace Dayne.

I believe Dayne was drafted in most leagues on the net. Therefore, a player taking over for another player who was drafted in most leagues would have value - would he not?

I am trying to cater to "most" leagues with my thoughts and not trying to BEE close minded.

OK, for dynasty leagues I can understand where you are coming from.

Dayne was drafted because he had a very good preseason and people have had a hard time seeing Tiki as "the man". I was one of those that thought Dayne was poised to take over - at one point I even sent Steg an IM telling him to get ready to gloat. BTW - have you seen the way Tiki is holding the ball? He needs monster props for correcting that problem... and turning it into a strength.

Actually, I don't need a hug.
But what I would like is an explanation as to WHY when I ask a simple question in a post that I took responsibility for communicating a potential sleeper RB for long term leagues, is it subjectively conceived as "defensive"?

That made NO sense at all.
Further more, Philly's follow up post in which included a thumbs up smiley and then a sentence in which he goes on to communicate that Ward isn't going to get Tiki off the field right now - as if I didn't know that? - was kind of a passive/aggressive form of a take on a RB that was obviously being posted for long term suggestions.

I guess I didn't know that Ward wasn't going to take Tiki off the field right now? that I or anyone else needed that information along w/ this post on a RB that is OBVIOUSLY a long term prospect?

but the fact is - all I did was ask a question to a comment that - IMO - made NO sense to the subject of this thread.
And I asked that question - not out of being defensive which I was prematurely and wrongly accused of but rather, because I took the responsibility to make this post.  Meaning that - I wanted to make CLEAR my suggestion was for the long term NOT the short term.

Why am I not able to do that w/out being marked as defensive?
