Need Help at WR... TO is Gone :(
« on: Dec 20th, 2004, 5:03pm »
Quote Quote Modify Modify

I'm in the Championship game in my money league, but I lost my #1 WR (Terrell Owens).

My other WRs on my roster right now are Jimmy Smith (new #1), Laveranues Coles (new #2), and Marcus Robinson (expendable).

There are some other WRs on waivers right now and I'll need to pick one up as a #3 WR for my Super Bowl.  Do any of these jump out at anyone?  (Scoring is 1/10yds, 6/TD, no pts for recpts)

Joey Galloway v. CAR
Samie Parker v. OAK
Rod Gardner @ DAL
Koren Robinson & Jerry Rice v. ARZ
Doug Gabriel @ KC
Marty Booker v. CLE
Antwaan Randle El v. BAL
Larry Fitzgerald & Anquan Boldin & Bryant Johnson @ SEA
Travis Taylor & Kevin Johnson & Clarence Moore @ PIT
Brandon Lloyd & Cedrick Wilson v. BUF
Eric Parker @ IND
David Givens @ NYJ
Dez White & Brian Finneran @ NO
Corey Bradford & Jabar Gaffney @ JAX
David Terrell & Bernard Berrian @ DET
Plus a bunch of other stiffs...

well im gonna have to say galloway since he seems like a main target now and not to mention he returns kicks....so he is a double threat....if not him i would go with eric parker because mccardell should be back and indy D is weak so parker will get alot of looks and deep throws....

I like these more than Robinson...

Joey Galloway v. CAR
Jerry Rice v. ARZ
Doug Gabriel @ KC
Koren Robinson v. ARZ

...in roughly that order.

Good luck!

That sucks Philly, but we know you have to skills to win anyway.

It's abit of a gamble, but I would actually give Anquan Boldin a shot.  McCown has been throwing to him a good deal the past couple weeks, and against the Seahawks in Seattle, the Cardinals may need to play from behind.

Of course Larry Fitzgerald got the TD's this week, but I know I saw at least one redzone pass to Boldin, and they actually had him targeted on a 40 yarder as well.

hey cardinals are playing for a division title...it is quite possible that boldin goes off....i jus realized cardinals have a chance to win the division....and denny green might get em fired up....

seattle faces.....ari, atl
rams face....Phi, NYJ
cardinals face @sea, TB

cardinals have a good chance i think and that may mean boldin puts up big numbers in the clutch...jus a thought

I had Larry Fitzgerald on my roster for a while, but cut him before week 15 so I could sign Coles since I saw Coles have a really nice game against the Eagles.  Unfortunately that didn't pan out because Coles had 39 yards receiving and Fitz snagged 2 TDs.

Before I posted this, I was leaning towards Fitz #1, Parker #2 (if Morton is still out), and K-Rob #3 (since he is healthy and rested).

Seems like there is a lot of sentiment for Boldin or Galloway right now.  Keep those opinions coming!  Thanks to those who already chimed in.

i like these the best out of the group:

Galloway (4 td last 3 games + 1 punt ret td - duel threat)  CAR ranked 22nd in pass def before this weeks games.

Gabriel (Porter is #1 but game could be a shootout - KC ranked 32nd in pass def before this weeks games)

K Rob (1st game back - will he be rusty or will he want to show he's back?)

Fitzgerald/Boldin (actually fighting for division - SEA ranked 23rd in pass def before this week - but who will get the td's this week?)

tough choice but at least your #1 & #2 WR's are decent.  dont know what the rest of your lineup looks like but i'll assume its good.

good luck.  KC.

The rest of my lineup is in the footer of each of my posts.  I start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF.

I also have to decide which QB will be the best start this week.  I like Collins again, but KC shut down Plummer pretty well (or did Plummer shut himself down?).  Bledsoe has a nice matchup too.

, stupid on my part - i didnt even notice the lineup down there.

as far as QB, i'm kinda in the same boat also having Collins & Bledsoe to choose from but i also have Hasselback.  i think all 3 have decent matchups but i'll have a tough choice myself.

Collins - no running game, has to throw alot, been looking decent lately and KC doesnt really have a great def (was DEN a fluke?).  either way i think KC will score so quickly that Collins will have plenty of chances.  should be a shootout.  KC was ranked dead last [32nd] against the pass prior to the DEN game (T-14th vs run - 31st overall).  [i think Plummer is just horrible lately, RBBC issues and the whole DEN team is falling apart]

Bledsoe - McGahee out, Henry out - going with Shaud Williams?, so Bledsoe might have to throw more.  either way SF just sucks on both sides of the ball and i believe their starting corners are still out?  BUF also still fighting for playoff spot.  SF ranked 20th against the pass prior to the WAS game (T-14th vs run - 15th overall).

i dont know who i'd take at this point but i'll get back to you later in the week after i think about it a little more.

KC.

I've put in waiver claims for (#1) Anquan Boldin and (#2) Joey Galloway.  I should be able to get both of them because my competitor is fairly well-set at WR.

Better late then never   but I would have gone the Galloway route as well.  He is getting a lot of looks from Griese.

I snagged Boldin and Galloway off waivers - now I just have to decide which one to start.

Interestingly, my opponent (who has Harrison, Porter, Roy Williams, and Clayton) tried to block me from grabbing another WR and grabbed Larry Fitzgerald, Samie Parker, and Antwaan Randle El off waivers.

I started Boldin and he did well for me.  Unfortunately Jimmy Smith and Laveranues Coles did nothing.  Had I started Galloway over Smith I would have a small lead on my opponent.  But I have Jeff Wilkins going tonight and he has the Eagles defense, so it looks like it would have been a moot point anyway.

Yet another year where I lose one of my top players the week before the championship game and have to settle for 2nd place.
