Redskins Offseason Report
« on: Feb 21st, 2005, 8:26am »
Quote Quote Modify Modify

From the Washington Post:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A40538-2005Feb20.html

In an unexpected development, it appears that another top WR may become available.  Gibbs, Danny Snyder and Coles, and Lavernous Coles agent have met a few times in this offseason already.  Coles has expressed his desire to be released.  It appears the Redskins are inclined to release him.  Gibbs does not want someone on the team who does not want to be there. In the deal, Coles would agree to return a portion of the $13 million signing bonus to help the Redskins with their cap situation.....

Coles would definitely improve the WR free agent crop this year.  This see if this plays out!

This is the talk on the local sports stations.  Everyone thinks it is a bad bad deal.  Get Coles for 1st rounder, pay lots of money to him, trade him for a receiver not as good for him while receiving no salary cap relief, receive no additional comp for trading for a worse receiver, and oh yea, giving Moss a new contract worth way more than he deserves.

The Moss/Coles trade may not happen after all:

Fans in Washington are pissed about this one.  Should of gotten more or hung on to him.

Now their receivers this year are gonna be Santana Moss and Patten since Gardner should be gone soon.  They really are hoping Taylor Jacobs (Spurrier pick from Florida) steps up to the plate.

Hey soso... the two of us may be the only ones who really like McCants.  It doesn't seem like he's getting a fair shake in DC.

Sean Taylor, at it again...

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-redskins-taylor&prov=ap& ;type=lgns

Taylor, allegedly, was involved in an altercation and pulled a gun on another person.  He is also accused of punching one of the individuals in the altercation.

I don't think anyone should be surprised.  In fact, I predicted that Taylor would continue to get in trouble last season in one of my fantasy articles:

Thought this "attitude" check from "The REAL Feed" was worth posting:

I drafted this guy in the GBRFL.  I really like him for this year, not to mention he is a stand-up, unselfish player.  I think between Moss and him, he is going to have the better year in Washington this year ("in Washington",... so, to be realistic, there will be a limitation on what he'll be able to produce).  He's a "deep sleeper", nevertheless, who, with a late-round pick, could help you and your fantasy team to FF glory.  As to who he is,...  From "The REAL Feed":

Looking to move up, Patten's place is now D.C.

Well, McCants didn't get a fair shake and was released.  However, it looks like the Eagles have already recruited him and will sign him before long.
