Trades/ opinions
« on: Sep 12th, 2005, 9:59pm »

I had Javon as my #1, and he's history.
I was offered Burress and Caddy for SJax.

we play 3 wr and 2 rbs

my rbs are as follows
Dillon
DD
Sjax
M Faulk
Willy Parker

My wr's NOW
Michael Clayton
Bruce
Engram
Bryant
Braylon
Booker
M. Williams

I was never a fan of Burress, and I have serious reservations about his QB AND coach.
Caddy is a rookie.
I have reservations regarding SJax, which are Martz playcalling ( yesterday was no exception), his O-line, and Marshall.

I was also paying attention to Caddys performance yesterday, and he wasn't really doing great until that 1 long run, at that point he was avg.<4 YPC.

My gut tells me this is a fools trade, that I should reject it immediately.
Does anyone here really think Burress will play to a high level ( higher than my other WR's), or is this really Caddy for SJax?

Thx for the opinions,

m

i think you are on target with your comments.  i would not expect burress to outplay your other wideouts and therefore would be difficult to start.

even with mad martz at the helm, i still think steven jackson is going to have a good season and would not trade him for cadillac.

good luck.

I think you are right on about Caddy for Sjax as the other guy's goal.  Caddy actually had a decent start and should take the role, and someone felt you would be receptive to the trade because you need help at WR.  I would try to get more at WR in a trade like this, if you want the RB move.  Burress still has question marks.

Thanks Guys

I actually thought I drafted pretty well at WR, but...
Now Clayton is bumped to #1, and Bruce is bumped to #2

I guess I will have to play the matchups after that.

I'm not feeling warm and fuzzy about that position now.

Who else does the other guy have at WR, and what does his RB corps look like?  If he's hurting at RB, he may have made a first offer to see if he could get it.  Is he WR rich?

He's trying to build a monster.
He has TO AND Holt and:
C.Rogers
Curtis
Burress
Kennison

his RBS are Willis,Caddy, S. Davis, M. Moore, Barlow, foster, LJ

I would probably take Rogers instead of Burress, but I still see this as a sideways move.
Burress does have the advantage of being the #1, but I've never been that impressed.
I believe given the CORRECT opportunity SJax will outperform Caddy, and it could be by alot.
I don't really see his WR's ( other than Holt and TO) being much better than mine(excluding Clayton and Bruce) by the end of the year.

I don't see this happening.

He's nervous at RB.  Do RB's get points per reception?  He probably started with the guy in his league who had something at RB and needed big help at WR.  But after TO & Holt, he has other problems.

I'd take a look around the rest of the league and see if a better trade might be do-able before doing anything else.

I believe he is, as LJ is his next best option IMO.

He wants a solid everydown back, and he loves St Louis players.... for good reason.

Theres a guy that has Andre Johnson, that is NOT happy..
He has Harrington, and he doesn't like him.
I could offer him a trade involving Brooks ( who he likes ), and  one of my other WR's...

I dunno, I've been looking around, and I really don't see a whole lot.

I gotta keep looking.

Thx

Andre Johnson has potential.

What is your scoring system?

Also, you say you have a QB to trade.  How are you at QB, and who needs one?

6 pts per any td
.25= 1 pt passing
.10=1 pt rushing

Qbs are:

Brooks
Delhomme
Dilfer
Carr

Noone REALLY needs one, and mine flat out blew chunksSunday....
I have a feeling that Brooks is gonna be a smuck this year if Deuce stays healthy ( not that he was that great anyhow ).
Shithead didn't even have 1 td, not that Favre did any better, but still thats pretty pathetic.

This is probably crazy, but what about a counter offer of:

SJax and Bruce
 for
 TO and Caddy?

TO will outproduce Bruce easily, and I believe that SJax SHOULD outproduce Caddy, but not certain of that after last week, but what about the everlooming Martz idiocy.

He has Bulger and Holt already.

I need a stud wr, not Burress.

I don't believe he would do this anyway, but I dont want Burress.....
AND I'd be stuck playing my dumbest pick(Unless I played caddy, which is not a given at all), which happened to be DD, I fell for the hype, which is very rare.

Houston is a damn mess.

I would DEFINITELY do that trade you mention right above, muzz.  Alternatively, as a tweak to the original deal, I would do Jackson for Williams and Kennison (instead of Burress).  I REALLY like Kennison this year (as I've indicated all off-season).  Good luck!

Yeah I'd do it too, I just don't think he'd do it.
Ain't gonna hurt to counter with it though.

Well I offered that trade.
The fact that SJax is playing ari. and Caddy is playing Buff. may tilt it in my favor.
I am now reading that McNabb has a bruised chest and may miss time...

Koy Detmer is not McNabb.....

I would take a good hard look at Andre Johnson. I don't think Brooks is gonna put up any special numbers and you can start Delhomme which won't be much of a drop off and you'll get a potential top tier wide receiver out of it. Also, if Houston finds their groove then you will have the David Carr Andre Johnson connection too which could be big.

Also, another possibility could be dealing willie parker and one of your potential #3 wideouts to someone desperate for an rb this week for a wideout who you are high on and think is underrated. I wouldn't mess with steven jackson though, i think he's gonna have a good year and i wouldn't worry about marshall stealing any of his thunder.

I have a new trade idea.
There is a guy in my league that has Harrison and Tomlinson.

I was thinking of offering him:
Dom Davis, steven jackson, and Isaac Bruce
for
Harrison and Tomlinson.
His other 2 WR's ( that he starts) are Boldin and DJax

His BU' RBs are C Brown and T jones, which basically means his other RBS are suspect, and remember we play 2 RBs and 3 wr's.

Does anyone think he'll take this trade, or do folks here think I'm trying to screw him?

I don't think I'm screwing him myself, I'm offering 2 stud RBs for the best RB ( and as stated he doesn't have a 2nd as good as either) and a good 2nd/3rd wr for a top 5 wr, who is declining, although still one of the best.

What do you guys think?

Thx in advance,

DD,
Sjax
Courtney
 Bruce

for

LT2
Boldin
Witten

Does that look more fair to you guys?
He's not even starting Witten

Courtney Anderson is still a big question mark.  I think the Raiders used him as much as they did in the passing game as strategy.  In the Raider O, especially today's Raider O, I would never trust too much from a TE until I saw a different situation from them in terms of using the TE for more than just drawing coverage or blocking.  Witten is the better bet at this point in the season.  If he knows that, you may juke the trade by asking for too much.  If he's all nuts about Anderson in week one, if could help.

Yes, the trade you state above, muzz, looks quite equitable.  I would rather have Harrison than Boldin, however.  If I were him, though, (quite obviously based on that comment) I would rather trade ya Boldin.  If he is of the opposite opinion, though, JUMP ON IT!!!  Good luck!!!

I like Witten alot myself, I would have Conwell in there, but I don't trust that he's going to play/ be effective.

I am not trying to screw anyone over, I know some folks feel that's an ok thing to do, but I'm not like that really.

He has weak depth at RB, a trade involving LT2 could recify that quickly, and the guys I'm offering are ranked very high on just about everyones boards.
Bruce and Boldin could be a wash, although if healthy I feel Bolding has a better chance at better #'s.

I actually think Courtney COULD surprise folks, he did pretty good in short spurts last year, and he was involved in the PS alot.
Raiders fans were pissed cuz he dropped 2 sure TDS this preseason.
He's a monster at 6'6" and 270 pounds.

I do believe that Witten will outscore him, and prolly by alot, but I remember when Witten broke on the scene, I picked him up because he was getting a sniff that year, and he got alot of touches last year.
I don't think CA is gonna be a stud, but who knows really.

I dunno, I am not out to screw anyone, but I want fair value for 2 rbs that are listed as studs on most sites.

How do you guys think Fitz will do this year, forget last week.
I may target him instead, as that guy has  fairly weak rbs after Edge.

I obviously would rather have harrison also Steg, but thats gonna be a real hard sell, even if he is slipping a bit.

I think Boldin could be had, but I'd prolly have to give up Bruce to get him..
Maybe he'd go for Engram instead, but I doubt it.. Bruce on name alone looks better.
I feel Engram could surprise alot of folks this year, considering he proilly has the best hands of all the Sea. WR's, and always did well in the #3 spot.

You asked what we think about Fitzgerald.  Does he have both Boldin and Fitzgerald?  Or were you just wondering if Fitzgerald will get more looks?  Warner will have to pass, and he liked Fitzgerald last week.  The question is what will happen next.  I guess the answer is that if Warner holds up, one of them will get the coverage.  Which is a better fantasy play could change week to week unless one of them emerges.
