Seahawks wide receiver Darrell Jackson, who is tied for second in the NFL with 22 catches so far this season, has a sore knee that had to be examined by team doctors this morning.

From "The REAL Feed":

Both Seattle starting WRs doubtful for Sunday
SI.com: NFL (05.10.2005 17:30)

Not good news for owners of Jackson and the unexpectedly, suddenly upsurging Engram and Hasselbeck too.  Can Peter Warrick capitalize?  That's the question...  They did snatch him off the waiver wire back in the summer pretty darn fast!

From "The REAL Feed":

Jackson has surgery; Engram out again for Seattle
SI.com: NFL (12.10.2005 18:42)

I feel bad for Engram, who was finally getting a "good look" and having his long-awaited breakout season.  I hope he gets well soon.  On the other hand, I am happy for Joe Jurevicius, another Penn-stater, who too is, alas, getting his number called and could have his breakout season.

excerpt
Darrell Jackson underwent surgery on Wednesday in Miami, and his recovery time could be affected by two things were discovered during the arthroscopic procedure.

One, the lateral meniscus tear was worse than anticipated. Doctor John Uribe, the renowned orthopedist who performed the surgery, found a large flap of cartilage that had rolled underneath.

Two, there was a second injury found during the surgery, a loose flap of articular cartilage.

The estimate of a four- to six-week recovery period does not necessarily change though initial indications are it could be more like six weeks as opposed to four. Obviously, there's concern since the injury was worse than anticipated, but it is consistent with the pain Jackson was feeling while making cuts.
