From "The REAL Feed": Bucs' Cadillac questionable for Week 6 The Sports Network: NFL (12.10.2005 19:40) | I DIGRESS...
As of right now, this injury notwithstanding, I think the Caddy has "stole the (auto) show" and put himself squarely at the head of the '05 class of tailbacks, is the head of the class of '05 tailbacks. In that light, does the Cadillac's likely being in the shop again and Ricky's coming back in Miami and cutting in on Ronnie's dance, open the door for Cedric Benson, who may be getting the start for Chicago this week, to finally show his fantasy mettle and throw his hat into the ring of the top running backs of the '05 class? And, does he go through it,... the door... and the holes his blockers create for him that is? |

Check out this goodie I found in a LOCAL source for the Bucs on "the Gridiron Newsstand": "Gruden Pondering Change At QB?" I guess, if you were to ask this guy, he would say that this injury came just in time for Gruden and Bucs and is a blessing in disguise. I know this is all just speculative rhetoric, BUT if there is a kernal of truth to it, whatever the severity of Griese's injury, this could spell the beginning of the end for him in a Bucs uniform.

This piece procured by way of "the Gridiron Newsstand" takes the position that QB Chris Simms's hold on the starting job is VERY tenuous: "Griese Out, Rattay In" It even intimates that newcomer QB Tim Rattay may have a chance to be named the starter for their next game after the bye-week. I don't know if I would go that far. Actually, I know I wouldn't, BUT I do think, all the confidence in Simms the NFL guys, e.g., on ESPN claim to have notwithstanding, he will be on a VERY short leash. I have always been a fan of Rattay. I think if he gets a chance in Tampa, they could provide him with his first legit chance of success. Maybe, finally, this could be the long-awaited paybacks from San Fran for Steve Young.

Definitely something worth filing away as we get into the offseason... From "The REAL Feed": T.O. to Bucs? Don't be surprised if it happens ESPN: NFL (07.01.2006 13:48) Bucs may consider signing Owens in offseasonYes, Keyshawn Johnson drove Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden nuts in Tampa, but league sources say don't be surprised if the Bucs seriously consider signing Terrell Owens, who will be released by the Philadelphia Eagles by next month, ESPN's Chris... Besides the T.O. news, something else is revealed of critical fantasy import... I don't know if it was just a NOT-well-thought-out slip, an speculative implication or a direct matter of fact, but this is what was written, "The Bucs are lured by the idea of adding another big play receiver for young quarterback Chris Simms," NOT Brian Griese... Has the starting quarterback job in Tampa become Simms's to lose? If it has, a) that's VERY un-Gruden-like as typically he loves a good training-camp QB battle, and b) I think that would be inadvisable because I don't think that Simms has (indubitably) proven himself to be a capable NFL starting quarterback yet; the 5-1 start under Griese is really what's gotten the Bucs into the playoffs here, not the .500 record Simms put up.
