- From "The REAL Feed": Davis, Foster headline Panthers' banged up RB corps The Sports Network: NFL (12.10.2005 19:40) Is it Nick Goings, who gets no respect and is totally underrated, to the rescue again? If it is, whether or not I pick him up, I'll be rooting for him...

Well, Foster may be out yet again (along with two other key defenders on defense). From "The REAL Feed": Three key Panthers questionable for season finale The Sports Network: NFL (29.12.2005 09:19) Is anybody else smelling an UPSET here??? In any event, get ready for a little dose of good old Nick Goings, one of the more underrated backs in the NFL who once again might just be a sneaky-good fantasy pick-up, here Week 17 and, moreover, get REAL ready for a BIG dose of the BEAST of the backfield, Eric Shelton, who will likely take over at starting tailback next year (relegating DeShaun Foster to the third-down back he probably should be both from a standpoint of his history of injuries and, frankly speaking, his level (at least this year) and style of play.

Yea, the 70 yarder was sweet, BUT, gooooollllly, did you guys just see that last series of the Panthers? They had like 150 chances from the 1 and then the half yard line. HOW BAD did they look like they needed Eric Shelton??? Foster just could NOT get the job done,... not even close.

Now, he's OUT for the remainder, for sure... From "The REAL Feed": Foster breaks ankle in Panthers' win Fresno Bee: Football (15.01.2006 23:18) The Carolina Panthers will not have running back DeShaun Foster available for next week's NFC Championship game, as the team's leading rusher fractured his right ankle during Sunday's 29-21 victory over Chicago in the divisional round. ... So, it's Goings for now,... AND SHELTON FOR LATER... Mark my words!!!

| Agreed. I don't think it is a surprise that Shelton will be worked into the offense next year. I have no doubt it will be running back by committee with Shelton being eased in and eventually taking over. IF Shelton did not go down this year, he would have probably worked his way in this year. Oh yea, I guess the assumption is that Shelton is a decent back and can come back from his injury......

From ALL I('ve) gather(ed), Shelton's Lisfranc sprain was not at all a bad one... Case in point, KFFL reports that... Panthers | Shelton does not like to sit and watch Sun, 11 Dec 2005 06:07:05 -0800 Darin Gantt, of the Rock Hill Herald, reports Carolina Panthers RB Eric Shelton (foot) is having a hard time spending his first season on the team's Injured Reserve list. The injury to his left foot suffered in the preseason finale would have kept him out at least six weeks, but Shelton shrugged last week and said he knows he could have been playing "by the end of October, for sure." Panthers' general manager Marty Hurney acknowledged that placing Shelton on IR was a difficult call, but one the team felt was necessary. Shelton was struggling in preseason when the injury occurred. "I know a lot of it was on me," Shelton said of his disappointing training camp. Shelton's on-field activity is limited to sprints and conditioning work with strength coach Jerry Simmons each day, maybe catching a few balls from the Jugs machine while the rest of his teammates are working toward a playoff berth. "It's tough watching," he said. "But what else do I have to do?" Panthers | Injury Update: E. Shelton Sun, 11 Sep 2005 07:37:50 -0700 Darin Gantt, of the Rock Hill Herald, reports Carolina Panthers rookie RB Eric Shelton has a Lisfranc sprain, basically a separation of the small bones in the top of the foot, usually caused by twisting falls. Nothing's actually broken, no surgery's required, and six to eight weeks in a cast followed by some rehabilitation should have him fine for the 2006 season. Panthers head coach John Fox caused a bit of confusion recently when he referred to Shelton's injury as a "broken foot." This is published on the following page: http://kffl.com/player/11218/nfl.
