whats your take...D's and TEs (trade)

Ok, i've been offered Cincy D and Crumpler for Kurtis and Mewelde. I have the depth to make this trade, and I think mewelde losing cpep is a hit and kurtis is good, but does not get heavy receptions which would ultimately lead to me benching him in later weeks of the year based on my roster (check sig). I picked up Kinney early last week and he seems really solid. I drop my D every week and go by matchups. I don't really like this trade, but as the year moves on, these guys will probably find themselves on my bench most of the time.

I'm LEANING towards a no, but I know it could add points to my score wk to wk. Should I just trade for the D? But a WR or RB for a Defense? i'm not sure what to do..

At the very least this trade has gotten me thinking about this and other related trades involving D's and TE's.

Generally I don't feel very good about trading for TE's and Defenses (and QBs, but thats for a different topic). Unless its Gates I don't USUALLY like the idea. I have resorted to the waiver wire for defenses each week (10 player league) This is only my 2nd year in Fantasy, but I was 11-4 last year (tied 1st) using this method. I had wiggins as my main TE and picked up defenses wk to wk.

This year has been a little tougher, and has left me considering the move to trade for a D and a TE. I'm 4-4 (Bulger and moss out that 1 wk cost me a win for sure) but for whatever reason our league is ultra competitive and there is a 7 way tie for 2nd (4-4) with first place (6-2) losing 2 in a row and falling real fast (heavy injuries, bledsoe). I can't say not having a D has cost me a win, but it has been close...

So basically what i'm saying is the strategy has been working for me, but then again I haven't really had a nice Te/Defense combo. Would it help separate me from the rest? I'm not sure...

What are your general opinions on this...Do you think making a trade for a top ranked D or a step up in TE can be worth it or would you rather take your chances week to week and keep your WRs and RBs.

looks like I got off ramblin again

Thanks for any opinions or suggestions

I say go for it

You definately have the depth in WR and RB positions.  Cincy's D should be a must start every week.  They are hot, and not cooling down any time soon.

Crumpler is a great TE, too bad Vick is stinking it up in the passing dept. this year.  But when he does throw the ball.  It's to Crumpler.

Agreed.  The fact that Curtis and Moore will just ride the pine on your team means that it is worth the gamble to pick up Crumpler.  Cincy is a tough defense.  I am pretty sure that half of their interceptions came in just two games, but they figure out ways to put up fantasy points.

I think you should accept.

It looks like a good deal.  By getting Crumpler, you can get rid of Clark giving you an extra roster spot for that next WWW (waiver wire wonder).  Cincy's D has been money this year and the only negative is that they still have a bye-week ahead of them.

I wouldn't do this trade...  I agree that Moore and Curtis on your roster have little value and will probably (cross your fingers, right?) not see much time in your starting lineup from here on out, BUT that does not mean you should just ignore their objective value (albeit, perhaps waning in the case of Moore).  With Holt and Bruce banged up, Curtis is more valuable than Crumpler.  Moore, being a fair-to-midland starting tailback alone, makes him more value than a(ny) defense.  Who knows?  Moore may statistically benefit from the loss of Culpepper and the insertion of Johnson.  Johnson LOVES to dink-and-dunk to his running backs.  Meanwhile, Cincy is not even that special, but... surely better than a week-in-and-week-out waiver-wire pick up.  ...  All of that said, a mindful, well-sculpted trade would do your team good.  I would try to get a QB thrown in the deal, even if that means involving a third party.  I mean you are already giving up more value.  Get him to throw a third player in and see if you can't move that player (+ a little sweetener perhaps) to get a QB.  Also, perhaps be willing to move Westbrook.  He's expendable on your team and looks a bit delicious right now with Owens perhaps out for a week or two... or more... though, no matter what, I don't think he's in for a good campaign this season.  It's a good time to move him (especially vis-a-vis Moore).  Well,... good luck!
