Tough one for week 9
« on: Nov 2nd, 2005, 11:10pm »
Quote Quote Modify Modify

I MUST start 3 WR's and 2 RB's.  My flex is either a RB or a TE.

I am starting Fred Taylor and I have:

Priest vs. OAK
K. Jones @ MIN
Shockey (TE) @ SF

I am starting R. Moss and J. Horn and can start either:

Roy Williams @ Min
Engram @ Ariz.
B. Johnson vs. SEA (in for Boldin)

I can go two RB's and 4 WR's <or> 3 RB's and 3 WR's <or> 2 RB's 3 WR's and Shockey.

Any help would be much appreciated.  Thank you

It's gotta be the even though I think Jones will have a good day, too,... providing Garcia remains the starter.  If not, it's even more reason to go with the...  In general, I'm not keen on even considering a tight-end in this situation,... moreover, over running backs,... moreover, over those running backs.  Besides that, I don't think Shockey is in for a good week.  The Giants go up big, abandon the passing game, and Tiki (and maybe even Jacobs) rack it up this Sunday.

Now, at wideout, you're in a bit of a bind.  Williams and Engram are not even locks to be back this week (I don't care what the "official" reports indicate if they indicate information to the contrary).  Isn't there a way you could start a tight-end, namely Shockey, instead? I would wait up until the last minute to see if they are in or out.  But, still, you've got a manifold of things to wait out...  If they both do play, I would go with Williams IF GARCIA STARTS; if not, I would go with Engram.  Preliminarily, if you want to get a tentative lineup in early, I would put Johnson in.

Good luck!

The priest has a head-ache. I'd stay away from that. Nothing more frustrating than watching your starter's back up getting all the carries. The back up there is pretty good.

I think Steg is Right, You are in a bind. However, I think I would set sail  with any player playing against the Vikings. I truly think the Vikings quit.   Players going against that trash will be a scoring machine!

I agree they looked like they quit last week.  But they are still only 2 games out of 1st in a terrible division.   The buzz is that they're all rallying around BJ now that Pepp is gone.  Don't expect anything better than a 6 and 10 finish, but I don't see Detroit rolling on them.

I'd definitely play Shockey vs SF.  So I guess I'm going with the 3rd model.  As such, I'd run with Priest as your 2nd RB, and Williams @ MIN for your 3rd WR.   If you have to go Jones at RB due to Priest injury (or your comfort factor with that), go with Engram at WR to avoid the WR & RB overload.

Good Luck!

I like 3 rbs and 3 wrs

I'd play KJ and Priest (its looking like he'll start)

As for that last WR...I'd say Engram, but Roy could have more potential against the Vikes D.

Ok, I have it nailed down to two players.

Priest Holmes, or Jeremy Shockey.

It may be a gametime decision, but here is what I am going with:

F. Taylor, K. Jones- RB's

Moss, Horn, and Williams- WR's

(sorry steg, Im a duck4L, and I just can't lose the faith for joey ) unless I get burned this week, then Williams is going on the trading block..Lol

So, my Flex position is whats up in the air.  Thanks for your previous input, and continued assistance.

Brother, hold on for just a second...  ESPN has been reporting all night that the is expected to PLAY!!!  I, personally, would take ESPN's word over FantasyFootball.com's...  Furthermore, I am not reading anything supporting the latter's claim on "The REAL Feed".  Don't crack the bubbly just yet, bro.  Continue to be vigilant...  Good luck!

No way barber taking the job away from Julius Jones.  He is their man.  Just because he has two descent games, doesn't mean anything to Parcells.

JJ is the man.

I don't know about that...  Barber is a "Parcell's" type guy.  The fragile Julius Jones may not be.  Did you read that article I linked to on the "Cowboys In-season Report" thread?  A "few" cases in point...  Anthony Thomas was Chicago's guy; Michael Bennett was Minnesota's guy; Tatum Bell was Denver's "clear-cut" guy; Lee Suggs was Cleveland's guy and before that it was William Green; Dorsey Levens was annointed Green Bay's guy back in the day; Tshmanga Biakabutuka was Carolina's guy; Ki-jana Carter was Cincinnati's guy; Christian Okoye was Kansas City's guy; Jerome Bettis was the Rams' guy; J.J. Arrington was Arizona's guy; Thomas Jones was Arizona's guy; Marcel Shipp was... "is" Arizona's guy; Michael Pittman was Arizona's guy... Tampa Bay's guy; Cedric Benson "is" Chicago's guy; Jamal Lewis "is" Baltimore's guy...  Need I go on?  Nothing is guaranteed in the NFL and you are not "the guy" until you've proven yourself for a good five years.  It doesn't take long to fall out of favor in the NFL, especially with Parcells.  The point is you "never know", and this JJ situation is getting quite a bit more "unknowable", relatively speaking.  That canNOT just be tacitly denied.

Good point Steg.

Julius has proven himself to Parcells for the "most" part.  Barber has had a couple of good games. ( IMO )

Me personally, I accomplished exactly what I wanted too this week.  I scooped up 5 WR's in the WW ( Rogers, Williams, D. Jax, Engram and B. Johnson) got rid of three of them, and came out ahead in the RB dept.  with Julius and K. Jones.

I still have two solid WR's in Joe Horn and R. Moss ( IMO ) and I can always go to the WW and get points for my #3 WR.

So, I may not be able to start Julius every week, I think I am in a pretty good situation to wonder who to start between Priest, Taylor, Jones and Jones.

Thats why I took the trade.  Nothing lost really, only gained.

i really like your first 3 options.

1. Shockey (great matchup)
2. Taylor  (great matchup)
3. K Jones  (good matchup)

the rest are iffy due to injury and Horn is just on a bad offensive team playing a very good defensive unit.

4. Horn (not too fond of Horn or NO offense in general)
5. Moss (injury?)

if Moss doesnt play then i'd go Roy Williams (inj) or Engram (inj).

good luck.  KC.  Go Eagles!!

I'll tell yous right now ONE VERY "observable" reason why Barber has a chance to steal the starting job away from Jones in the long run...  This guy "cowboy ups"...  Did you guys see this guy BLOCK last night, especially pass block? He was POPPIN' dudes!  This guy's a FOOTBALL PLAYER!!!  And, Bill likes "football players"...  And, mind you, he's a good enough runner...
