by Ken Mesecher Time & Date of this Update (PST): 13:30 on Sun Jan 22 2005 News: Seahawks Week 20 Fantasy Impact Fantasy Football Slant: The Seattle Seahawks host the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Championship game. Both teams are flying high so we should witness a great game. The Hawks will look to ride Shaun Alexander and their homefield advantage all the way to the Superbowl. I like their chances. RB Shaun Alexander is back and he's healthy for this game. He got his clock cleaned last week and suffered a concussion. Concussion or not, he would have been back for this game regardless of his physical status. Look for him to have a pretty good day, even against Carolina's solid run defense. Start Shaun and sit back and reap the benefits of starting a true #1 running back. WR Darrell Jackson has been questionable all week but did manage to return to practice yesterday. He will start and should fair pretty well. Start Jackson as a high #1 WR. Bobby Engram was also injured last week with lower back problems. He too, practiced yesterday after sitting the entire week, and is also slated to start. He is worth a high #2 start this week. Peter Warrick, Joe Jurevicius and D.J. Hackett will all receive some looks this week but none should crack your roster. TE Jerramy Stevens had a decent game last week and if you are looking for a sleeper pick at a receiver position this may be it. Start as a high #2 at the TE position. QB Matt Hasselbeck is a good start this week. Look for him to feed the rock tons to Alexander, which will open up his passing game and therefore give him his usual solid fantasy stats. Look for his normal 250 yards and a score or two. Start Matt as a high # 1 QB. Kicker Josh Brown is a good start this week and should put up decent numbers worthy of a high #2 kicker. The Seattle Seahawk Defense is a fair play this week as a team defense. They will look to stop Steve Smith and Jake Delhomme and will try to force the Carolina ground game to beat them. If they succeed in that they WILL represent the NFC in the Superbowl. Time & Date of this Update (PST): 18:00 on Fri Jan 13 2006 News: Seahawks Week 19 Fantasy Impact Fantasy Football Slant: We are in for a real treat folks. This game has a little bit of everything we love about the NFL. It's playoff football at it's best, and the elite Seattle Seahawks will try to ride their NFC best record all the way to the Superbowl. Washington did beat the Hawks earlier this season in a close one, but the Hawks have undeniably become the hottest team in the NFL down the stretch. That fact, coupled with homefield advantage, could be the factor that will likely put them over the top in this one. Start Shaun Alexander with confidence. He is, like he was all season, a high #1 RB. At the Wr position, the once lean Seattle receiving corps is now healthy and looking strong. The problem from the fantasy perspective is who will get the endzone love. I like Darrell Jackson to get the most, followed closely by Bobby Engram. Start either player, with an edge going to Jackson as a solid #1 WR and Engram as a low #2. TE Jerramy Stevens will likely get some touches, but if you are playing tight ends in your league, there are better starts out there this weekend. Matt Hasselbeck is a good start as well. Start Matt as a #1 QB. This may very well be another Shaun Alexander highlight game, but with Hass, you will get a quality start no matter who shines as top dog in the "O". Kicker Josh Brown will get several opportunities to kick so he makes a decent start as a #1 kicker. The Seattle Seahawk defense is a decent start and can be used as your #1 defense. Time & Date of this Update (PST): 22:00 on Sat Dec 31 2005 News: Seahawks Week 17 Fantasy Impact Fantasy Football Slant: The Seattle Seahawks are the elite NFC team this year. This week they play for nothing against the Green Bay Packers in a game that should have a pre-season feel. All key offensive starters for Seattle will likely be sitting most of the game if not all of it. It would be wise to avoid them this week. RB Shaun Alexander has been the man all year. Look for him to be the league MVP when all is said and done. My feeling is that he will possibly play the first series and then sit. Avoid Shaun this week. RB Maurice Morris will get significant snaps at running back when Shaun Alexander checks out. He may be a pretty good start. Hopefully you handcuffed him to Alexander when you drafted. Start Mo as a low to high #2 RB. WR Darrell Jackson will not make the trip to Green Bay this year so he is definately out. Bobby Engram is slated to play approximately one quarter and then get the hook. He may get an early touchdown, but I personally would not rely on one quarter worth of stats. Peter Warrick, Joe Jurevicius and D.J. Hackett should serve as the main receivers this week. Of the three, WR Joe Jurevicius would make the best start. He should be considered as a solid #2 WR this week. Hackett and Warrick are low #3 starts. TE Jerramy Stevens may actually play most of the game so he makes an average start. Start him as a low #3 TE this week . QB Matt Hasselbeck, like the other starters will start the game, but see limited action. He will play a quarter at the most and as such, does not warrent a start. Back-up Seneca Wallace will see the most snaps and is an intriguing start. Start Seneca as a low #3 QB. Kicker Josh Brown is a good start this week and should put up decent numbers worthy of a high #2 kicker. The Seattle Seahawk Defense is a not a good play this week as a team or individually as many of the special teams players will be featured as starters. PLEASE do NOT post to this thread! Time & Date of this Update (PST): 20:30 on Thu Dec 22 2005 News: Seahawks Week 16 Fantasy Impact Fantasy Football Slant: The Seattle Seahawks are riding high and are a perfect 7-0 at home. They will look to remain perfect there and will likely beat the once presumed unbeatable Colts. The Colts are coming in to Seattle beat up on both sides of the ball. There are key injuries throughout the whole team. This, coupled with the fact that they are no longer chasing perfection, should have a huge impact on the outcome of this game. There will be many second stringers in the game for Indy, making this game not live up to the hype it had a few weeks ago. All key offensive starters for Seattle can be started with confidence this week. RB Shaun Alexander had another monster game yardage wise with 172, and added yet another touchdown to his league leading totals. Shaun is a #1 RB every week. WR Darrell Jackson played last Sunday, and had a pretty good return. He had 72 yards on 6 catches and caught a TD pass. He got a little banged up and is listed as questionable on the injury report once again. Start as a low #2 if he plays. WR Joe Jurevicius had respectable #3 receiver stats last week, adding a score to his 31 yard total. Start Joe as a high #4 this week. WR Bobby Engram caught six passes for 96 yards last week, but was held out of the endzone. He may receive more attention this week if DJax sits. Start him as a low to mid #3 receiver. TE Jerramy Stevens had a very productive week against the Titans, also pulling in a Hasselbeck TD strike. Start him as a high #3 to low #2 TE this Saturday. QB Matt Hasselbeck had a very solid outing in week 15. He went 21 for 27 and ammassed 285 yards and 3 touchdowns. He has only thrown 10 incomplete passes of his last 52 thrown. Matt is a very good start at QB this week with a mid to high #1 rating. Kicker Josh Brown is a good start this week and should put up decent numbers worthy of a high #2 kicker. The Seattle Seahawk Defense is a good play this week as the Colt offense as we've seen will likely be watching most, if not all, of this one from the sidelines. In IDP play LB Lofa Tatupu and DE Bryce Fisher make strong starts. Time & Date of this Update (PST): 07:00 on Fri Dec 16 2005 News: Seahawks Week 15 Fantasy Impact Fantasy Football Slant: The Seattle Seahawks are riding a nine game winning streak into Tennessee this week as they continue to pursue the NFC's top seed. The Seahawks have a chance to wrap up home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs with a victory here. By all accounts they should be able to do that. Once again, all key offensive starters for Seattle can be started with confidence this week. RB Shaun Alexander busted 100 yards rushing last week and added a score, pushing his rushing totals to a shade under 1500 yards. Shaun is a #1 RB every week. WR Darrell Jackson will not only play on Sunday, but will get the start. Many experts are cautioning fantasy footballers to give him a week or two to get back on track before inserting him into your line-up. I agree somewhat, but I do believe he will get some respectable numbers this weekend. Start as a mid #3. WR Joe Jurevicius had respectable #3 receiver stats last week, but I think he will slip a notch this week due to D Jax's return. He is still an ok start as he moves to the slot, but drop him down to a low #4 this week. WR Bobby Engram has been the go-to-guy recently. He caught two more TD passes last week, giving him three in two weeks. He may receive more of the same this week, but I like D Jax to take one from him. Start him as a high #3 receiver. TE Jerramy Stevens who caught 3 balls for 28 yards and a score in week 14, will likely be the odd man out in the receiving corps now. His value takes a big hit with Jackson's return as he will find himself more and more in blocking schemes. QB Matt Hasselbeck had a very solid outing in week 14. He threw for 226 yards and 4 touchdowns. Equally as impressive as his four scores, was that he only missed 4 passes out of 25 thrown. Matt is a good start at QB this week with a low #1 rating. Kicker Josh Brown is a good start this week and should put up decent numbers worthy of a high #2 kicker. The Seattle Defense is a great play this week as the Titan offense is struggling to score. In IDP play LB Lofa Tatupu has become a must start, and DE Bryce Fisher makes a strong start. Time & Date of this Update (PST): 09:00 on Fri Dec 09 2005 News: Seahawks Week 14 Fantasy Impact Fantasy Football Slant: The Seattle Seahawks absolutely dominated the Eagles on Monday night. The quiet NFC West leaders made a big noise on prime time and showed the nation that they are the elite NFC team. The 10-2 Seahawks host the 2-10 San Francisco 49ers this weekend. This game should be a blowout from the get-go. Look for Seattle to once again unleash the leagues best running back this week. All key offensive starters for Seattle can be started with confidence this week. RB Shaun Alexander only had 49 yards rushing Monday night, but added 2 more touchdowns to his rushing totals. He now has 1,388 yards and 22 TD's this year. With 4 games remaining, he will need to pick up the pace a bit to reach the 2,000 yard mark this season. This game should go a long way to help him achieve that goal. Shaun is a #1 RB every week. WR Darrell Jackson will play Sunday if all goes well at practice Friday. He is listed as questionable on the official injury report. Temper your expectations if he does return, as it will likely take a week or two to get back on track. Start as a low #3. WR Joe Jurevicius , who went off in week 12, was held without a catch last week. He is still a great option this week against the pitiful SF pass "D". WR Bobby Engram is Seattle's possession reciever. He caught his first TD pass of the season against Philly. Watch for the trend to continue this week. Start both WR's as mid to high #3 receivers. TE Jerramy Stevens fantasy numbers continue to be on the slide. He is the lone "no play" on Seattle this week. With the return of Jackson, all receiver's fantasy values may drop dramatically as his stock will likely rise. QB Matt Hasselbeck did not have to do anything Monday night and as a result he had poor fantasy numbers. His dismal stats were not due to a lack of offensive output, rather to the outstanding Seahawk defensive play. He attempted only 15 passes, completing 8 for 98 yards and a touchdown. Matt is a good start at QB this week with a high #2 rating. The only thing that keeps him from being a #1 QB is the presence of Alexander and the likelyhood of Seattle running the clock out on the ground. Kicker Josh Brown is a good start this week and should put up decent numbers worthy of a high #2 kicker. The Seahawk Defense is a great play this week as the 49er offense is practically non-existant. In IDP play LB Lofa Tatupu and DE Bryce Fisher make strong starts. If you were planning on starting DB Andre Dyson after his 2 TD performance last week, forget about it. He is out this week and probably will miss the entire season with a high-ankle sprain. Time & Date of this Update (PST): 19:50 on Thu Dec 1 2005 News: Seahawks Week 13 Fantasy Impact Fantasy Football Slant: The Seattle Seahawks "eeked' out an overtime win in week 12 and are arguably the NFC's elite team. The 9-2 Hawks travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles in what should be the their 10th victory of the season. This should be a fairly close game as winning in Philly on a Monday night is not an easy task. Look for Coach Mike Holmgren to give the Eagles a huge dose of Alexander this week and to control the pace of the game. The result...good fantasy numbers from the key Seattle offensive starters. RB Shaun Alexander added 110 yards and a touchdown to his rushing totals last week, and now has 1,339 yards and 20 TD's this year. With 5 games remaining, he has an excellent chance to reach the 2,000 yard pinnacle this season. Shaun is a lock for 100 yards and a score, and is a #1 RB every week. WR Darrell Jackson is still listed as out, and is slated to return to action December 11th. Some reports have him back this week, but don't listen as he has not yet participated in a full practice. WR Joe Jurevicius went off in week 12, hauling in 8 passes for 137 yards and 2 TD's. He should be the beneficiary of a Matt Hasselbeck TD this week as well. Start him as a mid #2 wide reciever. D.J. Hackett had been Matt's favorite red zone target lately, but was shut out last week. WR Bobby Engram resumes his role as Seattle's possession reciever. He averages over 5 catches a game but has yet to score this year. Start both WR's as mid to low #3 receivers. QB Matt Hasselbeck continues to put up solid numbers this season. He currently ranks third in the NFC in passing yardage with 2,606 yards. He has thrown for 14 touchdowns and only 8 interceptions this year. Matt is a good start at QB this week with a mid to high #2 rating. TE Jerramy Stevens was completely shutdown last week and was held without a catch for the first time this season. He is a spot starter at best as his fantasy numbers continue to slide downward. Start as a low #4 TE. Kicker Josh Brown is a good start this week and should put up decent numbers worthy of a high #2 kicker. The Seattle Defense is a fair play this week as the Eagle's offense has sputtered under QB Mike McMahon's leadership, or lack thereof. In IDP play, LB Lofa Tatupu and DE Bryce Fisher make decent starts. Time & Date of this Update (PST): 22:50 on Thu Nov 24 2005 News: Seahawks Week 12 Fantasy Impact Fantasy Football Slant: The Seattle Seahawks can clinch the NFC West title with a win this week and an unlikely St. Louis loss to the lowly Texans. The 8-2 Seahawks take on the New York Giants in what could very likely be a shootout. New York has scored 281 points this year, good for third in the NFL. The Seahawks rank fourth in points scored with 272. The Seahawks' 389.2 total yards per game is first in the league. With the opportunity to clinch so early, coupled with the drive for the all important playoff homefield advantage, look for the Seahawks to put up some big fantasy numbers and a win this week. RB Shaun Alexander leads the NFL in rushing with 1,229 yards and 19 TD's. He is on pace to reach 2,000 yards this season. He will pad those numbers this week and is, as always, a lock for a score or two. Shaun is a #1 RB start every week. WR Darrell Jackson is still listed as out, with a likely return to action next week. WR D.J. Hackett appears to be Hasselbeck's favorite red zone target as of late and has scored in two straight games. WR Bobby Engram has averaged six catches for 73 yards per game, and has caught a team high 42 passes for 507 yards, but has yet to score this year. Look for these trends to continue into week 12. Start both WR's as mid to high #3 receivers. WR Joe Jurevicius seems to be the odd man out and has not faired well with the recent emergence of Hackett. Start Joe as a low #4 WR this week as his production will likely be down again. QB Matt Hasselbeck is quietly putting up solid numbers this season. He currently ranks third in the NFC in passing yardage with 2,357 yards. He has thrown for 12 touchdowns and only seven interceptions this year. Matt is a good start at QB this week with a mid to high #2 rating. TE Jerramy Stevens has 29 catches for 412 yards and 2 TD's this year. He is a spot starter at best as his fantasy numbers have curtailed over the past month. Start as a high #4 TE. K Josh Brown has been a steady and accurate kicker for the Seahawks this season. He is a great option at his position and ranks as a high #2 to low #1 this week. The Seattle Defense is a poor play as the Giants offense has put up the leagues third most points thus far and can score with the best of them. There are no standout IDP starts this week. Time & Date of this Update (PST): 22:00 on Thu Nov 17 2005 News: Seahawks Week 11 Fantasy Impact Fantasy Football Slant: The 7-2 Seattle Seahawks visit the 2-7 San Francisco 49ers in a week 11 showdown. The Seahawks have rattled off five consecutive wins and lead the NFC West by 3 games. The NFL's #1 offense has averaged 391 yards per game. This fact does not bode well for the hapless 49ers' defense, which just happens to be the leagues' worst. The Frisco "D" gives up just over 397 yards and 29 points per game, which again is the league's worst. The Seahawks should run away with this one as the 49ers have gone 39 straight possessions without a touchdown. RB Shaun Alexander leads the league with 1,114 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. He will be fed the rock again and again and should visit the endzone at least 2 more times this week. Start him as usual, he IS the man. Because of several wide receiver injuries this year, a different player has led the team in receiving yards for seven straight games. Last week it was two catches for 78 yards and a touchdown from D.J. Hackett . Until the return of injured WR Darrell Jackson you can expect much of the same. WR's Bobby Engram and Joe Jurevicious are the best options for fantasy points from the wideout position. However, it is a toss up as to which one will get the love from Hasselbeck, but against this defense it may just be both! Start them both as high #3 WR's. TE Jerramy Stevens has also been in the mix for leading yardage receiver this year. He is a nice option at his position and is a mid to high #3 tight end. Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck finished week 10 completing 17 of 29 passes for 243 yards. He threw one touchdown and two interceptions against the Rams. He is averaging 235 yards per game and has 11 TD passes to date. Matt has been servicable as a fantasy QB this season but has not consistantly put up big numbers due to the overwhelmingly successful running game. Matt is a good start this week, but temper your expectations, as Alexander will once again be the focal point of the Seattle offense. Start Matt as a mid to high # 2 QB. K Josh Brown has been steady and has had many scoring opportunities, both field goals and extra points. Start him as a solid #1 kicker. The Seattle Defense continues to improve. In the first five games of the season, the Seahawks gave up almost 22 points per game. In the last four, they have only allowed an average of 14 per contest. Seattle is the only NFC team that has yet to allow a 100-yard rusher this season. They are a great spot start this week. In IDP play, LB Lofa Tatupu leads the team with 62 tackles and makes a decent start. Time & Date of this Update (PST): 22:15 on Sat Nov 12 2005 News: Seahawks Week 10 Fantasy Impact Fantasy Football Slant: Week 10 finds the Seahawks at home, against the Rams, in Seattle. The Hawks have had little trouble scoring on the home turf thus far this year. The only thing that may hold this game from being an all-out barn burner is the fact that there is a 90% chance of rain on gameday. Though there is likely "tons" of fantasy points to be had from this game, expectations may need to be tempered a bit, as the game speed may slow significantly by the soggy conditions. RB Shaun Alexander is a flat out stud! He is a "never bench" guy who continues his ranking as a #1 RB week-in and week-out. His value even increases (if you can increase a must start) with the probability of poor passing conditions. WR Bobby Engram had a poor outing last week but should rebound somewhat to be a mid to low #3 WR. WR Joe Jurevicius has had decent numbers since the injury to Darrell Jackson and may find himself as the featured #2 guy upon Jackson's return. Hasselbeck absolutely loves this guy, so he should benefit from that love with a solid fantasy week. Play him as a mid to low #2 WR. WR Peter Warrick is a risky start and has no real fantasy value to those in 10 team leagues. Jerramy Stevens is a good option at the TE position this week. He has a better than average chance to be the recipient of a Hasselbeck TD strike against a defensive unit that has struggled somewhat against the TE position. Start him as a low#2, high #3 TE. QB Matt Hasselbeck has only had one 300-yard game this year (at St. Louis) and should come close to another one this week. However, his overall passing stats may take a hit due to the inclement weather. Chances are he will be feeding the rock to Alexander as he did last week. Start him as a high #2 QB this week. Kicker Josh Brown is a great start for week 10. Start him as a high #2 kicker. The Seattle Defense is not a good option this week as the Rams find themselves "suddenly healthy" and will have all major offensive starters on the field. IDP'ers looking for spot starters may want to look into DL Bryce Fisher and/or DB Michael Boulware. Be sure to check Boulware's injury status before starting him. PLEASE do NOT post to this thread! This thread is only to be appended to by Ken Mesecher.
