ok, semi finals in 2 leagues. still need some more advice even though i havent been getting many responses lately. my opponents submitted lineup looks like this as of tonight..... Frye*, Collins, Frerotte, Alexander*, T Barber*, Harrison*, Driver*, Gaffney*, Bennett, McMichael, Janikowski*, Kaeding, JAX Def*, TB Def although he could change it and he does have a bench and waivers friday night. he prob doesnt know yet that Collins is starting again Sunday. (League 1) - scoring - longer TD's/FG's = more pts, pts for # of rec/rushes, pts for rec/rush yds. minus for INT's, FUM, Missed FG/XP. (L1a) RB - need 2 to start: 1. Jordan vs CLE 2. Dunn @ CHI 3. Moats @ STL Jordan at home w/ Collins back at the helm is a definite start but do i take a shot at Moats over Dunn?? Dunn has a really tough matchup and rarely gets the TD's anyway. Moats looked very decent last week against a tough Giants D and has a good matchup at STL. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (L1b) WR - need 3 to start: 1. Chambers vs NYJ (on fire lately) 2. Evans vs DEN (tough matchup and Holcomb might start - favors Moulds) 3. K Robinson vs PIT (tough matchup) 4. Curtis vs PHI (3d string) 5. Clayton @ NE dont even know why he's still on my roster? 6. Northcutt @ OAK (WW - only considering picking up because my opponent has Frye in as his QB) Chambers is my only definite, so i need 2 more out of Evans, K Rob & Northcutt ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (L1c) K - need 1 to start: i need more FG's and the longer the better......... 1. Elam @ BUF (weather?) 2. Bironas vs SEA (will he even get a chance to kick a FG?) 3. Edinger vs PIT (WW - Home in a Dome, can kick fairly well) 4. K Brown vs ARI (WW - kicks alot of FG's, need them more than XP's) 5. Nugent @ MIA (WW) 6. Mare vs NYJ (WW) 7. Peterson @ CHI (WW - weather?) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (L1d) DEF - need 1 to start: 1. CHI vs ATL (1st choice) 2. ATL @ CHI 3. SEA @ TEN E Manning*, Favre, McNair, Dunn, Jordan*, Moats, Henry, M Barber, Suggs, Chambers*, Evans, K Rob, Curtis, Mi. Clayton, Elam, Bironas, Freeney, CHI, ATL ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ************************************************************** (League 2) - scoring - TD's = 6 pts, 10 yds rush/rec = 1 pt, (Defensive pts for points allowed, int's, fum rec, sacks, safeties) (L2a) QB - need 1 to start: 1. Warner @ HOU (1st choice) 2. Plummer @ BUF ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (L2b) RB/WR/Flex - need 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 Flex to start 1. Dunn @ CHI 2. R Brown vs NYJ 3. Moats @ STL 4. Burress vs NYG 5. Fitzgerald @ HOU 6. R Moss VS CLE Burress, Fitz, R Brown, Moats definite choices, so toss up between Dunn & R Moss. ???? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (L2c) DEF - need 1 to start: 1. TB @ NE 2. PHI @ STL Waivers are closed in this league. Plummer, Warner, Dunn, R Brown, Moore, A Smith, Burress, R Moss, Fitzgerald, Feely, TB, PHI Thanks for any advice you give. KC.

sorry dude, there's just a LOT here to read and analyze. Dunn vs. Chicago is a no brainer SIT IMHO, so go with mini-LJ and Moats. Curtis? one word...Fitzpatrick. sit him. Northcutt is a long shot while KRob is seeing a ton of looks. Go with Evans & KRob Check the weather. if it's REALLY bad, grab Edinger, but if it's just cool/cold, stick with Elam. Chicago D is a must start. They'll limit points and have a better than avg shot of a score. L2 Warner over Plummer, who faces #1 pass D on Dec 14th, 2005, 6:21pm, kec6906 wrote:| Burress, Fitz, R Brown, Moats definite choices, so toss up between Dunn & R Moss. ???? |
| oh..wait, were you serious? I like TB even though it's at NE. Brady is hobbled a bit, so I'd start them over Philly. Though Philly will get some TOs, I still like TB.

L1a - Jordan, Moats I think you have to play these guys based on matchups. I don't like Lamont, but Dunn's fantasy scoring could take a serious hit this week. Moats (or anyone) vs St. Louis is a good play. L1b - Chambers, K. Robinson, Evans. I would definitely consider Northcutt this week as Evans could be 1 shot hit or miss. Is MARK Clayton available (Bal). L1c - Mare Weather is unpredictable and he has a favorable matchup. L1d - Atlanta TOUGH Calls, but this is a HUGE game for Atlanta and I think Vick will find ways to get in the endzone and take care of the ball. Chicago will be solid, but I look for Atlanta to be the better fantasy play against a pathetic Bears O. L2a - Warner L2b - Dunn (over Moss) L2c - Philly If Brady doesn't play go with Tampa Bay.

| | I DIGRESS...
Ya see, kec, everybody, it's the time of year when all the dudes who have squeezed "the Gridiron" turnip dry for the year start their disappearing acts,... mind you,... only to turn up again next August, moreover, with questions behind the scenes for me like "How do I get me in one of those FREE leagues goin' on here (the GBRFL2 or CBFL, which are primarily for dudes who make that 'extra' effort around here to help the site succeed)," sometimes followed up by comments like "I keeping meaning to get around to sending you a donation." When I hear that, I just want to say, "You know you're making it worse by 'apologizing' for it, saying you keep 'forgetting' it. You obviously 'REMEMBERED' it right now (and however many times before you've 'apologized'). So,... WTF!" But, of course, I don't... I can't... I just have to wait for the right "objective" venue to come about (this one) to make mention of it. ... So, in any event, it's one of those times of the year (the other is when 99% of the bills around here become due, which is around the months of May through July) when I'm a bit "sensitive" about my observance of the human propensity to "take and take and take and take" without thought of replenishing, returning the favor, or the "bigger picture"; made worse by the overt disdain, which we all (should) share to some degree, for the corporate mentality while they go on to patronize Walmart and yet "take and take and take and take" from this little guy (until, eventually, he won't be able to "take" anymore, and another "little guy" will have been swallowed up by the foot soldiers of corporate America, no, not the stuffed suits; they're the generals. The Emersonian sleep-walking, zombified public!) ... Furthermore, it's Christmastime, the time of giving, which makes it all the more poignant. I'm sure of those few who even read this with "care" most will dismiss it with the eventual click of a mouse away from the page, stomach perhaps just a touch queasy based on the,... gasp,... "truth" stated herein. But, hey, better your stomach (and my wallet) than your wallet, right? But, I will press on with my m.o. It's part of the "project" of this site. Instead of "lowering myself" (which, ironically, it seems like I am doing, though, when I have to make things explicit like this, which comes off like begging, because so few just do the right thing without being prompted), I am trying to give you all the opportunity to "step up"... (Indemnification clause: I am not at all trying to convolute helping me (financially) with "the Gridiron" with the genuinely altruistic acts of the many of us who have given to disaster relief efforts or the like (ultimately, just by being good tax-paying citizens, you aid in those efforts by way of the vast amount of government assistance). Mind you, though, those are EXTREME events of human suffering and desperation, which call for UNUSUAL efforts and desperate acts. REacting to those extreme events is not about common decency, contemplative personal development, seeing the "bigger picture" and (yet) doing the "small things" moment in and moment out that make a difference. Actually, though not mutually exclusive, the main attributes of disaster relief are quite the opposite: immediate and decisive response, heroic acts and lots of money. During catastrophes, we are looking to bring things back from ruin to normal and we reflect upon our fragility, which are good things, mind you, BUT really, on a deeper level, it is not our collective REaction to these over-the-top events that make us who we are. It is your thought process and course of action in everyday "easy" activities, like how you park your car, not littering, surrending your seat to an elderly person on a bus, not driving on the shoulder in traffic to get ahead of everybody else, not leaving the busker you've just been entertained by for 10 minutes (or all season) empty-handed, etc., that does and, furthermore, it is the sum total of these patterns of attitude and behavior that constitute the personality of the community and lays the foundation for the gestalt of goodness.) Regarding the "co-operative" project of the site, while lineup and roster advice threads SURELY add GREAT fodder for discussion (I am, unlike the administrators of many of these FF forums, a big proponent of "help" threads' being a part of the main board), they do not contribute a whole lot to the "bigger cooperative picture" and "giving back". There are four ways of "giving back" that I've outlined here and there that contribute to the "co-op" effort of the site, two key ones in particular. First, you can become a writer or correspondent for the site, writing "FF Articles" or "FF-specific Team Reports". Second, you can DONATE (at least a little scratch). Those are the two very tangible and clear and distinct ways of lending a substantial hand. Besides that, there is getting the word out... with a passion, at every possible turn. However, for any dude who comes here pretty much for the sole purpose of getting lineup/roster advice, there is EMBEDDED DISincentive to advertise the site (to your main constituency of fantasy footballers, namely your competitors). Granted, this is a very "unprovable" area of contribution, but I think it is safe to say that you, for example, kec, are not pounding the pavement getting the good word about "the Gridiron" out to the masses day in and day out. Last, and kind of least in the sense that it might not require of someone any extra effort, is participating heavily year-round in the goings on of ALL THREE of our main boards, "the Red Zone", "between the 20's", AND "the Sidelines". In any event, if you care about the future of "the Gridiron", these are the terms to be thinking in. Doing one of them is great; doing two, you are making a difference; three, and you are making the difference; four, and you are really, quite literally helping me get "the job" done. Using the site on a regular basis and doing none of these,... well,... is, let's just say, kind of beat. NOTE, kec, everybody, that this is not all just to kec. Whenever I write something this long and detailed, it is NEVER just to one person. To the degree that it is, though, the key, kec, is that it is with all the aforementioned in mind that I come to your weekly, as cp too states, DELUGE of stuff to analyze, and it's not like I or the brand of people I've attracted to "the Gridiron" want to do a shit job. ... BUT,... boy,... for me... ... You follow??? |

| | So,... as for what you are here for,... (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/donate.htm.) L1a) I would go with Jordan and Moats. All Falcons on offense should be played with caution this week. (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/donate.htm.) L1b) Easy. Chambers, as you say. Then, Robinson. Pittsburgh has a great run defense, but their pass defense can be had and Robinson has the tools and slowly, but surely seems to be emerging. I even like him for a long end-around this week. After that, I go with Evans as the best of the rest, moreover, with a matchup that isn't as bad as it looks. Denver, like Pittsburgh, makes their money on run defense. They can be had in the passing game. (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/donate.htm.) L1c) This is ultimately a crap-shoot, but I'd stick it out with Elam. Weather doesn't matter to him. (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/donate.htm.) L1d) I would go with either Chicago or Atlanta, whoever you think is going to win the game. I think it's going to be low-scoring, in any event. (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/donate.htm.) L2a) Follow your instincts and go with Warner. Jake has been a great NFL QB this year, but fantasy-wise, a bit of a dud. There is a good chance Denver will just run the hell out of the ball in Buffalo this week. On the other hand, given the state of the Cardinals running game, they live off the pass, and they have no better chance of succeeding than this week. (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/donate.htm.) L2b) You say it boils down to Dunn and Moss. In that case, I would go with Moss. Again, I just don't like the Falcons in Chicago this week, at least not from a the standpoint of individual players on offense for fantasy purposes. (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/donate.htm.) L2c) Of these two poor choices, I would go with Tampa. If they are going to win, it's probably going to have to be in a low-scoring affair. So, if you think they will win, they are your choice. In any event, though, going with Philly in St. Louis cannot be called anything but a total roll of the dice. Who the hell can even have just a proximate idea of what's going to happen there this weekend? I sure can't, whereas, I do feel that the possibilities in New England are to some degree foreseeable. (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/donate.htm.) Now, would you, any of you, rather have to pay a membership fee or receive a bill for that and what's going on on this thread? Or, would you rather be given the opportunity to do the right thing and just somehow, however you see fit (ideally by way of one of the four options I present above), show your gratitude and return the favor... and get the good feeling for having done so? (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/donate.htm.)
