Week 16 - Who should I pick up?

Strictly in terms of getting a guy for the future, next season (and beyond), without at all considering the remainder of this season, in the context of a DEEP keeper league (the GBRFL), who would you pick up off the waiver wire of the following: QB Sage Rosenfels, QB Josh McCown, QB John Navarre, RB Tony Fisher or RB Michael Turner??? Here is a direct link to the "Rosters" page in case you want to see what other options might be available to me: http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/gbrfl/rosters.htm. I really look forward to seeing what recommendations you all make as well as any discussions that ensue... So, NOW, let me have it!!!

Thanks for the input, cp! Very helpful. Regarding, McCown (versus Navarre), though, did you see the reports up on the "Cardinals In-season Report" thread? Here's a direct link: http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/cgi-bin/theGridiron/YaBB.cgi?board=55;a ction=display;num=1128578682. According to those reports, McCown looks to be the odd man out...

| Steg...I too have noticed the lack of what I would call "common courtesy" replies. It does get a little bit frustrating when you spend valuable time replying to other's queries with the sole purpose of helping out, only to find that your own post has been neglected!! (and many times by the very people that you have helped on several occasions) I realize that this is a hectic time of year for many and we probably will not see anything from them till next year. However, there are those who are still posting their questions expecting some help, who are in fact not helping others. To be frank and honest here, that's just selfish. Shameful....and at this time of the year that is known for giving. Sorry for posting this here Steg, but it is something that has been bothering me and your post reminded me of it.

| No need to be sorry at all, MC, for posting this here. I welcome others to take the stand and point out BS for the bullshit it is. I do; most don't, which means that I am usually stranded as the lone soldier of "doing the right thing", when, mind you, this is (a meaningful) part of the "project" of "the Gridiron" (that everybody benefits from, ultimately, even though few "make the stand" necessary to make it happen). By all means, MC, feel free to help me in this (Confucian) endeavor (of making "Superior Men" (out of barbarians), to use the Confucian terminology I happen to like). The propensity to "take and take and take and take" without ever even having it cross one's mind to "replenish" or "return the favor" is an unbelievable dynamic to witness, huh? It really lends legitimacy to the definition of "human" as "virus". Moreover, this is made even more poignant by the "supposed" underlying angst we have with "corporate" America. ... There REALLY is SO MUCH to learn here above and beyond the limitated world of fantasy football. I know I have learned A TON about what people are about. ... So, any more help for me,... with my free-agent pick that is???

| I was happy to take McCown with my pick in the same league. Two reasons that I like him: 1) He will be starting for the rest of the year in a potent Arizona passing offense. 2) He is a free agent at the end of the year. The free agent crop of QBs next year is bleak, so he is arguably in the top 3 free agents available. (that is not saying I realize)

| Eh,... yea,... I knew all that, too. Ultimately, he's a straw, and you're reachin'... like we all are right now. At this point in the season, though, I prefer to go with guys who (well, first of all, are known quantities of good potential, but they're all gone, so) are relative unknowns that haven't proven themselves one way or the other yet but are in decent situations to guys who have somewhat proven that they stink. McCown ain't being brought in to enter any starting QB battles save for perhaps if he stays in Arizona, which does not appear likely, whereas, there is a decent chance Navarre and perhaps Orlovsky, who are stuck in their relative homes, will, not necessarily because they deserve it, but as a matter of fact. The irony here is that often the whole player entering free-agency thing, the basis of your m.o. here, can be a (fantasy) boon, but in this case I think it's those staying put that are better situated (for fantasy football at least). For McCown, I just think free-agency will very well translate into a job for State Farm. ...
