This'll be the BIG news this offseason for the 'Hawks...  From "The REAL Feed":

MVP Alexander willing to play free agent market
ESPN: NFL (13.02.2006 00:45)
Shaun Alexander, who sat out the Pro Bowl on Sunday because of a sprained right foot, said contract negotiations with the Seattle Seahawks will continue Monday. But the NFL's Most Valuable Player said he's open to playing elsewhere.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!

Updated: March 15, 2006, 3:05 PM ET
Signings: WR Warrick returns to SeahawksESPN.com news services

Hoping to carve out a bigger role in his second season with the team, unrestricted free agent wide receiver Peter Warrick has agreed to return to the Seattle Seahawks on a one-year contract extension, ESPN.com has confirmed. The one-year deal is worth $1 million.

Warrick, 28, signed with the Seahawks last summer, after the Cincinnati Bengals released him, but he played sparingly for the NFC champions, catching just 11 passes for 180 yards and seeing some duty as a punt returner. Although the Seattle wide receiver depth chart remains crowded, the departure of veteran Joe Jurevicius to Cleveland in free agency has thinned the ranks a bit, and Warrick is confident that he can contribute more in his second season with the club, and with a better comfort zone in the offense.

The former Florida State star, the fourth overall player selected in the 2000 draft, has played in 79 games and started 60 of them. He has 275 catches for 2,991 yards and 18 touchdowns. His best season came with the Bengals, in 2003, when he posted 79 receptions for 819 yards.

Seahawks, DT Bernard agree to three-year dealBy John Clayton
ESPN.com

The Seattle Seahawks haven't decided whether to match the Steve Hutchinson offer sheet from the Minnesota Vikings, but they have prevented their next best free agent from leaving.

The Seahawks fought off the Kansas City Chiefs on Wednesday and kept defensive tackle Rocky Bernard by reaching a three-year, $13 million deal that included a $5.4 million signing bonus. Bernard is coming off an 8½-sack season and also had his best season stopping the run.

The Chiefs flew in Bernard on Tuesday and were trying to talk him into a contract. The Seahawks kept in touch the entire time and wouldn't let him go.

On Wednesday, they re-signed both wide receiver Peter Warrick and Bernard.

John Clayton is a senior NFL writer for ESPN.com.

Hutch update...  From "The REAL Feed":

Seahawks maneuver to keep guard Hutchinson
ESPN: NFL (20.03.2006 15:54)
The Seattle Seahawks have apparently maneuvered
themselves into position to keep All-Pro guard Steve Hutchinson, an attorney for the NFL's players' union said Monday.

They are saying that the restructuring of the Jones deal may still lead to "complications" in trying to re-sign Hutchinson, however...  Stay tuned...

Seahawks | Burleson signs offer sheet
Fri, 24 Mar 2006 14:15:34 -0800

Mike Sando, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports the Seattle Seahawks have signed restricted free agent WR Nate Burleson (Vikngs) to an offer sheet. The Minnesota Vikings have seven days to match the offer. If they do not, the Vikings would receive Seattle's third-round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft.

WOW direct retribution...by the seahawks

Seahawks | Burleson offer sheet details
Fri, 24 Mar 2006 15:35:55 -0800

Updating a previous report, Mike Sando, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports the Seattle Seahawks' offer sheet to Minnesota Vikings WR Nate Burleson is a seven-year, $49 million deal with $5.25 million guaranteed. The deal also includes two poison pills guaranteeing the entire $49 million if he plays a certain number of games in the state of Minnesota, or if his average-per-year exceeds the average of the highest-paid running back on the team. The pills are in direct retribution for the contract the Vikings used to sign former Seahawks OLG Steve Hutchinson.

This seems to come as a bit of a surprise...  From "The REAL Feed":

End near for Holmgren? Seahawks coach mulls future
ESPN: NFL (29.03.2006 16:01)
Still smarting a bit from his team's Super Bowl XL loss two months ago, a defeat he clearly feels was affected by some dubious officiating, Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren left open the possibility the 2006 season could be his last in the league.

I personally don't see it.  It's March '06, and we're talking about what he's going to do with his life come March '07.  He just now finally has that team well-oiled...  You never know, though...

Jerramy Stevens season in jeopardy...  From "The REAL Feed":

Seahawks TE Stevens hurts left knee, to have MRI
ESPN: NFL (17.08.2006 19:11)
Seattle Seahawks tight end Jerramy Stevens was taken off the field on a cart Thursday morning after injuring his left knee during practice.

Time to NOT discount the "always discounted" Itula Mili, who, though never a fantasy football force, often seems to be an okay filler... while Stevens's career spirals out of control.
