"Pennington" and "cut" in the same sentence...  Currently from atop "The REAL Feed":

Jets Target Pennington
Washington Post: Sports (15.02.2006 00:36)
The New York Jets want quarterback Chad Pennington to lower his 2006 income from $9 million to as little as $1 million, an NFL source says.

Chad's making his sitch very dicey by not accepting a pay cut, especially with the Jets perhaps in line to get one of these yummy college QB prospects AND the change in the coaching regime...  From "The REAL Feed":

Pennington agent to Jets: No contract renegotiation
ESPN: NFL (18.02.2006 03:15)
Chad Pennington won't take a pay cut -- and it could cost him his job.

New head coach remains quiet on Pennington's future...  From "The REAL Feed":

Mangini mum on Pennington
SI.com: NFL (20.02.2006 15:54)

Again, given this, also off "The REAL Feed", you got to be thinkin' that there is a good chance that Brees will be coming to the Big Apple to take the lead role for the Jets:

Schottenheimer, Sutton hired as Jets coordinators

New York Daily News: Sports - Football (28.03.2006 07:51)

Newsday.com: New York Giants (28.03.2006 22:22)
If Eric Mangini thought his life was a whirlwind since becoming Jets coach in January, nothing measures up to what happened Friday night on his way to the NFL owners' meetings.

LOCAL report from off "The REAL Feed" detailing the Jets' predraft "moves" (quite literally):

Jets chatting up potential draftees
Newsday.com: New York Knicks (18.04.2006 09:12)
With the NFL draft 11 days away, Jets officials have come up with one more category to add to the litany of statistical measurements that will determine whom they select in the first round: frequent-flyer miles.

More draft news from off "The REAL Feed"...

Reggie Bush works out for Jets
ESPN: NFL (18.04.2006 18:30)
Reggie Bush took part in an impromptu workout for Jets officials Tuesday, ESPN.com has learned.

And, they conduct talks with QB Cutler...

The Jets are really keeping us apprised of their draft plans...  From a LOCAL source on "The REAL Feed":

Maryland TE in Jets picture
Newsday.com: New York Knicks (20.04.2006 01:21)
Matt Leinart, Jay Cutler or Vince Young? Or maybe Reggie Bush? How about D'Brickashaw Ferguson? All five players have been mentioned as possible choices when the Jets select fourth overall -- unless they make a trade -- in next weekend's NFL draft.

This could become a reality if you consider the Jets hold the 4th, 29th & 35th picks.  According to the draft value chart these picks are worth a combined value of 2990 just 10 points shy of the value for the #1 overall pick.

Jets latest look-see...  From a LOCAL source on "The REAL Feed":

Restless Jets work out Young
New York Daily News: Sports - Football (21.04.2006 07:09)
Although it's unlikely they will select a quarterback with the fourth pick in next weekend's NFL draft, the Jets completed their quarterback scouting tour yesterday by conducting a private workout with Texas' Vince Young in Houston, his hometown.

Don't know how newsworthy this will really end up being, but it's currently topping "The REAL Feed", so...

Jets RB Houston involved in car accident
SI.com: NFL (22.04.2006 23:39)

As we know, if C. Mart is slow to recover from his knee surgery, Houston could be in a position to pounce.

Jets NOT going QB, or so a LOCAL source on "The REAL Feed" alleges:

No welcome Matt in sight
Newsday.com: New York Jets (24.04.2006 22:22)
It appears unlikely Jets will go for Leinart or any QB with 4th pick of NFL Draft.

LOCAL Draft talk from "The REAL Feed":

Jets can't pass on Matt
New York Daily News: Sports - Football (28.04.2006 10:18)
Reggie Bush was the best college football player last season and one of the best of all time. Vince Young, the Texas quarterback, played maybe the best single game of college football that has ever been played, if you really look at the stakes and circumstances of Texas vs. USC in the Rose Bowl ...

BUT, how about goin' and gettin' the guy you should get, New York, Mr. Bush, who unbelievably remains a "free-agent" of sorts?

Well, they didn't get Leinart,... so here's the LOCAL rhetoric regarding Clemens... from "The REAL Feed":

In Oregon QB, Jets snap up a sleeper
New York Daily News: Sports - Football (02.05.2006 07:00)
When Kellen Clemens got the call from the Jets in the second round, he was taking a nap - only fitting for a player hailed as one of the top sleepers in the NFL draft.

HELP!  I've got a bad case of "suger-coatitis"...  Quick...  Call the spin-doctor... Look...  Nothing against the kid, but NOT everyone of these guys are going to succeed.  I know it's that time of year, but the hyperbolic rah-rah rhetoric needs to be tempered.  According to some, there's no one not going to make it, which is a poisonous mindset for fantasy footballers.

Update on Pennington... currently tops "The REAL Feed":

Pennington takes another step, throws at minicamp
ESPN: NFL (31.05.2006 12:12)
Although the club offered few details, New York Jets officials confirmed that quarterback Chad Pennington, rehabilitating from a second surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder, threw in seven-on-seven and "team" drills during a Tuesday[/i]
