Azumah to retire after seven NFL seasons http://chicagobears.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=14727 In 2005, a hip injury that required surgery during training camp robbed Azumah of his explosiveness. He played in 15 games as a nickel back after losing his starting job to Nathan Vasher, who was voted to the Pro Bowl after leading the Bears with eight interceptions. Azumah, 28, retires third on the Bears' all-time kickoff return list with 2,885 yards, trailing only Glyn Milburn (4,596) and Dennis Gentry (4,353).

| I don't deny that that's how things "appear" right now. I must say, HOWEVER, that I firmly believe that fantasy footballers banking on Jones this year are deluding themselves and setting themselves up for trouble, and those with Benson, who have (relatively) modest expectations are going to be, at least, pleasantly surprised. ... Isn't this the "bait-and-switch" time of year, in any event, when teams with overpaid back-up studs "hype up" their seasoned incumbent, who's coming off a good season or run of seasons, only for (fiscal) reality to set in come July, August or when the incumbent starter gets injured and the overpaid stud back-up pops one or two "bigguns" and the switch takes place?

Jones pulling a Benson... and getting punished for it... From "The REAL Feed": Bears demote RB Jones, LB Briggs at minicamp ESPN: NFL (03.06.2006 09:30) When the Bears began their minicamp Friday, two starters who had bypassed most of the team's voluntary sessions in the offseason were demoted to second-team status. Sure, this may be "temporary", but do you really think this is NOT the direction the Bears brass want to go in??? Come on, now... This is a time for wise fantasy footballers to "realize"... This is likely marking the beginning of a trend, namely the beginning of the end!!!

| Well,... perhaps you didn't exactly say, "No good," BUT you did say this... Quote:| Benson is a high paid wanna be, with completely unproven skills at the NFL level. |
| There's a pretty fine line there. ... In any event, I didn't know you back when Jones was a Cardinal (or Buccaneer). All I know is that right now I would love to know what you were saying about him back then. I can't really, so I'll just take you at your word here and now... and henceforth... regarding Thomas Jones. ... All I know is that if he is feigning a sore hammy because he is upset about things, that's immature and he's cutting off his nose to spite his face. Just do your best. Understand the economics of the game. Understand that you're still somewhat paying the price for your VERY lackluster performance early in your NFL career. And, get out there and showcase your talent for everybody watching, which you know they are. Don't be a baby about it... and potentially really ruin your career! Regarding Benson,... though yet unproven in the long-haul in the NFL, he is the real deal. There is no more prototypical of a back than him. He was built to run footballs.

He's made me a believer, too, cwhams,... in his ability. But, that doesn't matter to the reality of the matter. I don't believe his future is with the Bears. I'm sure he's made a believer of some other clubs as well, one of which he'll probably be playing quality ball for sooner or later, but the sooner the better. Furthermore, from a fantasy perspective, don't let Benson's letting you down last year (like he did me too) coupled with Jones's performance cloud your "fantasy" judgment this year. Those who are still picking/ranking Jones higher than Benson are screwing themselves. Fantasy football judgment is about A LOT more than on-the-field success even if it is recent.
