Everybody, this thread is to give you guys, my esteemed colleagues here on "the Gridiron", the opportunity to give me input/advice on my picks in JYJ's Drunken Pirate Slapfight Experts League - Year Two. Sometimes I will explicitly ask for help (as I did at times last year; here is a link to last year's thread: http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/cgi-bin/theGridiron/YaBB.cgi?board=55;a ction=display;num=1126212364), but FEEL FREE to follow the draft and give me your thoughts on who you think I should take as my picks roll around. Or, at least, FEEL FREE to comment on my picks after I make them or how "the Gridiron @FantasyFootballer.com" team is developing. AGAIN, THIS THREAD IS FOR COMMENTARY RELATING SPECIFICALLY TO MY SQUAD, THE TEAM REPRESENTIN' "the Gridiron"!!! If you want to comment more generally on the league OR on OTHER teams, PLEASE go to this thread "between the 20's": http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/cgi-bin/theGridiron/YaBB.cgi?board=56;a ction=display;num=1154323378. The league site where you can follow the draft is located here: http://football24.myfantasyleague.com/2006/home/13471.

Upon further review,... (like as in the CBFL Draft) there is no choice at the #10 hole! Not a bad choice to have to make, though! QB Peyton Manning is manning "the Gridiron" ship, boyz and girlz!!! ...

| You know me like the back of your hand, Jeff... (which you are always slapping me with). Really, thank you! ... It really does seem like with the running backs that will still be available when it comes back to me/the #10 pick in a 12-team league, there REALLY is NO choice... It would really be interesting to see how often Peyton is going at the #10 spot in 12-team mock drafts and drafts around the net/that you know of. Anybody have any data on this?

| Steg-- I can tell you that Antsports(which is a mock draft site) has Peyton going around 16th on AVERAGE. Most leagues just have MASSIVE runs on RBs for the first 13 picks or so. With that being said, I think Manning is a good pick, as long as you can get a quality RB with your next pick. Besides, I think there will still be a quality back left for your 3rd round pick too.... (and Dayne most likely will be around for you to take in a later round)

| It would be sweet if some of the guys still to pick before your second rounder are enamored with Steve Smith or Terrell Owens or the like and let a certain Ram RB slide your way. In any event, one of either Caddy Williams or Brian Westbrook should still be sitting there for your next go-round, assuming you're looking RB in round 2.

SJax is gone, as is the Cadillac. I'm wary of JJ, as I think Tuna likes Barber and will split carries between the two. JJ also is a bit fragile and that's not what you want in your #1 back. DD also has injury issues, but I like him better than JJ. He won't share carries and the Houston offense should be a bit better than last year. My only concern there is that Houston has a brutal schedule and I wouldn't be surprised if they had one win (TEN) or less heading into week 11 vs. BUF. Losing teams tend to throw more than run, although DD is valuable as a receiver as well. I kind of like Westbrook this year. He has his injury issues, but all of his injuries have been little nagging things -- bruised ribs, sprained ankle -- and nothing of the major variety. The Eagles will also run the ball a bit more and he's the best receiving back in the game. He's been using the same trainer this off-season that Tiki Barber uses in hopes of avoiding those little nagging injuries. Another guy I like at this pick is Willie Parker, although he won't gather the TDs of the other guys. He'll probably have more than 2005, without the Bus around, but Duce will take a few more of those goal-line carries. The same could be said of Warrick Dunn. He'll flourish with the Atlanta offense again, but TDs are a bit too infrequent and he's a much better #2 FF back. How would you feel about rolling the dice and not drafting RB here...? Steve Smith is still available...

Well, cp,... first off, it's actually the other thread "between the 20's" that is the "general discussion/commentary" thread,... but that thing's flyin' like a lead sinker. These guys don't want to post here this year,... God forbid... That having been said, EVERYBODY, of course, has access to this thread, so... Anyway, on to substance,... while I LOVE Benson and Dayne as you guys know, I can't believe they went off the board before... ??? As far as this GREAT pick you are thinking of,... I don't know... There are a few really good picks (based on that aforementioned development). I am considering a "screw you guys" QB pick with my next one. What are you thinking?

Yea, I was thinkin' two of my personal favs, Dayne or even Benson, here, not Taylor who I have ranked (a bit) higher than them both!!! Now, let's see what happens... I hope to be making my come-around pick before going to bed...
