12 team 1-Keeper PPR league.

Roster
QB - Delhomme, Romo
RB - LJ, Chester Taylor, Fred Taylor, Reggie Bush, Marion Barber III
WR - Steve Smith, Roy Williams, Terry Glenn
TE - Kellen Winslow, Benjamin Watson
K - Jeff Wilkins
D - Jacksonville, Miami

The Question
Heath Miller just hit the wire.  Clark is competing against a ton of weapons in Indy.  I've heard the Colts say they want to involve Clark more, and so far he's got 2 TDs in 3 games.   That's pretty good for a TE, but if Big Ben hits a stride, will Miller surpass Clark?  Should I drop Clark for Miller?   Remember, this is a PPR league.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a "PPR League"?

Whatever it is, though, I think you are spinning your gears with, probably, little consequence.  I think it'll be about six of one, half dozen of the other with these two.  I say if you "like" one of these guys, go with him.  To me, that's a BIG part of making fantasy football fun.  I'd rather win than lose, for sure.  But, it's so much sweeter to win with guys you like.  And, if I go down, I definitely do NOT want it to be with a bunch of punks I really don't even like to root for.  I definitely want to go down "swinging" with "my guys".  In fact, I think that is the definition of "going down swinging", namely to be doing so with guys you like.  Bottom line, see what feedback you get here, but I wouldn't spin your wheels too much on this one, cp.  Good luck!

PPR means Points Per Reception.  The question is if Miller will get enough receptions to trump Clark in his many-hands offense.

Big Ben likes to check down to Miller.  I'd go with Heath!

I like Clark and have him in one of my leagues.  He will get you TD's, but he isn't really a 5 or 6 catch kind of TE, where Miller could have the probability for more catches.  No more Bus and the red zone becomes more of Miller Time.
Can you keep both??

maybe i'm missin' something but i don't see the choice here as being difficult...yes - any indy rec. is potentially high gain - but folks have gone gray hopin it was their boy week to week...heath is gonna get looks AND throws - whe he doesn't it's more of an anomaly than w/ the other situation...but that's just what i think i've observed...i'd do the deal...
good luck, mate...

Hey kids, quandry for week 5:

Need 2 of these 3 RBs.   standard ppr league (1pt/20 ru, 1pt/rec, 1pt/20 rec)

Chester Taylor vs. DET
Clinton Portis @ NYG
Reggie Bush vs. TB

I'm thinking of benching Reggie, who is having a big impact, but still hasn't found the EZ.

That's what I'd do. Both Detroit and New York can be run on and Reggie is sharing carries.

Yea, personally I think this is a no-brainer.  I also own reggie and have had him on my bench all season.  Chester and Portis are definately your studs and even though TB sucks this year, they are coming off of a bye, and looking for blood this week.

Chester has a great matchup against the Lions, and Portis will be working extra hard this week against their division foes.  Stick with your studs this week.

thanks guys, one more WDIS for the week:

WR-pick 3 (TE is same as a WR):
Gates vs. PIT
Brown vs. DAL
Bruce @ GB
Toomer vs. WAS

I'm leaning Brown, Bruce & Toomer, but I see a lot of prognosticators saying Gates will have a big game.  I just don't see it vs. PIT....anyone?

RB-pick3
Portis @ NYG
Chester Taylor vs. DET
Caddy @ NO
Addai vs. TEN

I'm leaning Portis, Taylor and Addai.  Again, seen some   stating Caddy should have a nice game.  Even saw a couple predict 100 + and a score!  I don't see it, but thought I'd ping you guys.

Thanks!

I love Bruce this week. Toomer has been getting all the points while Plaxico draws all the coverage, so that could continue. I think it's a toss-up between Gates and Brown. I think the Eagles really spread the ball around this week, so Brown may not get the bulk of the catches. I'd actually lean toward Gates.

For the RBs, I think all of them are nice choices, so I'd go with the ones not in an RBBC.  I like Caddy a bit better than Addai this weekend.

At RB, I think you are right.  Don't listen to the "others".  At RC, I would make the same change Philly suggests (especially because it is our Eagles guy making the recommendation).  I'd pull Brown for Gates.  Gates is due, and if Pittsburgh can be had anywhere it's through the passing game, moreover, with an elusively-used tight-end.

#1 Taylor & Portis (Reggie getting some yards but still not getting any scores)

Ditto - Bruce, Toomer, Gates

Ditto - Portis, Taylor, Addai (i think Indy will get up so big that even if Rhodes starts Addai will be in there for plenty of carries and prob a score or 2)

Going into Week 7, I'm thinking of grabbing Jeramy Stevens and dropping Heath Miller.  Even with Big Ben finally getting a groove on vs. KC, Miller didn't seem to be a big factor.   Meanwhile, Stevens is coming back to a SEA team throwing like crazy, and the next 6 weeks opponents:  MIN, @KC, OAK, STL, @SF & GB....needless to say, I like the offensive SEA potential coming up.    Same stint for MIller: @ATL, @OAK, DEN, NO, @CLE, @BAL...probably only 2 nice matchups in there.

thoughts?

The Steelers are getting back to their game plan.....running the ball and letting Ben pass 15 - 17 times....a few of those downfield.  Miller will have minimal value going forward....sure, he may have a nice game here or there, but will not be consistent.  I like the Stevens choice over Miller, because at least Seattle will pass a lot, and he will get in the mix as teams concentrate on D. Jax and Branch.  Who else is available though?

I see this differently of course....

DJAX....Branch......Engram.......Burleson!!!! When will Hasselbeck get a chance to even look Jeremy's way? Also the return of Alexander in a couple weeks will shift the balance back to the run game. In Stevens' absence, Mili didn't even translate into fantasy value. Why? Is he that much worse a receiver than Stevens? I don't think so. I think that the TE in Seattle will be used as a blocker in many throwing situations involving 3 and 4 receiver sets because of the talent they have at WR. Who would you spread out there? I'll bet Holmgren splits out his stable of WR's.

The reemergence of Big Ben will help Miller's numbers a little...but you've seen what he's been able to do even with 3 or 4 catches right. He seems to be a big play TE when given the chance. Just something to think about CP.

If Heath Miller is the only tight-end you got, I'd try to get my hands on Stevens, but not drop Miller in the process, and then cross my fingers and start hoping for the best.  While I see whence MC is coming, for sure, Engram may be out of the mix... for the remainder of the season, and Burleson, the Seahawks are going to come to realize as if they haven't already, isn't really that good, and that they've wasted a ton of money on him.  He's a #3 NFL wideout and kind of a poor man's one at that.  Stevens I see eventually being third on the totem pole... behind Branch and Jackson.  Mili was relegated to fourth or fifth heretofore... behind Jackson, Engram, who had been healthy, Burleson, who they were trying to "believe in", and Branch for a game, and also a participating Shaun Alexander for three games in the backfield, who, granted, will be back (to full-speed) in probably a month.  Right at this very moment, I like Miller more, but they are pretty close in my book,... so, in that sense, I say two "Millers/Stevenses" is better than one (that is, if you don't have a Gonzalez, Crumpler, Gates, Shockey, Heap...).  Good luck!

Got a WDIS question at my RB spot this week.  I've updated the roster above.

I start 3, and already have Larry Johnson and Chester Taylor starting.   Need 1 more of:

Fred Taylor vs. TEN
Clinton Portis vs. DAL
Reggie Bush @ TB

I'm leaning Taylor, but that little frickin'    Drew keeps stealing TDs.   Portis vs. Dallas doesn't look like a good matchup to me.  I think the Cowgirls will get up early and force WAS away from the run.  Plus, Portis has an ankle injury  .   Bush is banged up too, but going against a suprisingly poor TB run D.

Thoughts?

I'd take a chance on Portis this week. It's a division game and Washington is coming off a bye and is in desperation mode. Portis put up 100+ yards the last time he faced Dallas (December 2005).

I like Taylor, but, like you said, Mo Drew is getting far too many of his scoring chances.

I'd avoid Bush completely, despite his heroics the last time he faced TB.

I'll second Philly's suggestion of Portis.  Taylor has been giving way to Drew, esp. in the TD department, and Bush's ankle is not a good sign for him this week.  Portis is the one who could really put up some good numbers this week - and he also can get you receiving yards too.

I agree.  Portis may be spelled by Betts, but this game is too important to do that if they don't have to.  Too many studs are down or partial already.  Fragile Fred has a mild hammy, and they may save him from the chance of further injury in an easy match-up.  Bush is risk/reward.  Deuce should get the bulk, except for possible receiving and break-out stuff, which isn't reliable for FF.  Who knows if or when.

This consensus is really suprising me!   I posted this as a confirmation, mostly, and now I'm really confused.   My WDIS is basically down to Fred Taylor vs. TEN or Portis vs DAL

Here's my logic against Portis:

1) Titans have allowed almost twice the points to RB as the Cowboys.
2) Portis has a high ankle sprain
3) Dallas is allowing < 90 yds/gm.  TEN is allowing > 162 ypg
4) Previous meeting this year (Week 2, no Portis), Dallas got up early and WAS only managed 64 yds to the RBs (not TDs)
5) Cowboys have only allowed > 90 yards once all year.

The only con I'm coming up with on Taylor :

1) Maurice Jones-Drew

But it's a BIG con.    Still, I can't ignore all the above.  And with Santana Moss out, I don't know that Brunell and the Skins are going to be able to do ANYTHING?

Please, someone help me out and give me something to hang my hat on with the pro-Portis sentiment.  So far, I just have a really tough time going in the face of all this analysis and starting Portis.   Am I putting too much into my thought here?
