I finally decided to join the website after lurking for a couple of weeks, and reading the good information and advice on this board.  I have a couple of dilemmas which I could use some advice on.

The basics:  8 team league, start QB, RB, WR, TE, 3 Flex, K, D/ST.  Scoring is 1 point per 15 yds passed, 10 rushed/received, point per rec, and 6 per TD, with bonuses for combined rush/rec yds over 100, passed yds over 300, and for length of TD.

My team is Bulger, Bledsoe, Tiki, McAllister, Foster, Caddy, Dillon, Holt, Driver, B. Edwards, Gates, LJ Smith, Keading, J. Brown, Jax D/ST and NO D/ST.

Thinking about dropping Dillon, and going after either T. Henry, Galloway (dropped), G. Jennings, R. Brown, or R. Moss (dropped).

I will also be dropping Bledsoe for Leinart (to cover Bulger's bye), and NO for Jets (will try and play matchups on weeks where Jax has difficult opponents).

My question is what order I should go after the available free agents?  I should be able to get one of them.

Thanks in advance.

First off, to you! Hope you enjoy it here and offer your insights as well.

I'm going off the assumption that R. Brown is WR Reggie, and not RB Ronnie. If it is Ronnie, I'd grab him immediately. If you're set on dumping Dillon (probably a good idea, with Maroney getting more and more work), I'd look at the free agents in this order:

1. Greg Jennings - He's getting a lot of looks from Favre, and GB will probably continue to air it out, but you already have Driver.

2. Joey Galloway - He's the best of the bunch, but he's also got a rookie QB throwing (even though Grad did well last week, he's got a very tough sched ahead).

3. Randy Moss - He's got some issues, as we all know, and he faces a tough schedule the rest of the way. You may want to roll the dice on him being traded, but I wouldn't count on it.

4. Reggie Brown - He's a starter on a passing team with a great QB, and he doesn't have any personal issues, but the Eagles don't use him as a go-to guy, even with Donte Stallworth out.

5. Travis Henry - Unless you know for sure that he'll be the starter and get 75% or more of the carries, then he's too risky, especially with Chris Brown, LenDale White, and (now) Vince Young getting carries too.

Thanks for the welcome (and the advice) Philly.  I'll definitely try my best to offer any insight I have.

You are right in that I was referring to Reggie, and not Ronnie Brown.

I was thinking that Henry might be the best bet, but you're right that there are too many vultures in Ten.

Yes, first and foremost, I second Philly's... And, thank you for the kind words. A one-of-a-kind bunch has gathered here on "the Gridiron".  Hang out, and become a part of it!

Also, quickly,... gotta do my job here...
I DIGRESS...
THFC, we try to keep thread proliferation at a minimum (I hate seeing threads fly off page one of a board and well-thought-out posts get buried).  I'd REALLY appreciate it (if you renamed this thread and) for this season continued to use this thread as your general "(waiver wire) HELP" thread as opposed to making a new one every time you come with a "waiver wire, lineup or trade" question.  Thank you for your anticipated understanding and cooperation!

Alas, on to your question...

First comment,... that is quite a team you have there.  Good job!

As for your free-agent list,... you may have to go Leinart first if you REALLY want him.  He's going to be the hot commodity this week.  I would try to hold off, though, but don't be surprised if you don't get him if you do.  The guy I'd be ALL OVER is Randy Moss.  There is just TOO MUCH potential there.  I can't believe he was dropped.  Talk about hitting the panic button.  Granted, Oakland is TERRIBLE, and he will not have a "great" year, BUT this is Randy Moss we're talkin' about.  GET HIM NOW!  After that, I'd go Travis Henry based strictly on position, RB over WR that is.  But, it is true.  The vultures are abound, and Tennessee too is a BAD team.  But, I see him on a similarish "plane" as, in order, Jennings, Galloway and Brown, but he's a RB and, thus, in my mind, worth the dice roll (over a low second- or third-tier WR, at least).  Good luck!

Hope to see you around participating...

Thanks Stegrock for the welcome and advice.  You really have a great site here.  As you suggested, I renamed the subject, and i'll use this thread to post help questions.  Hopefully I'll be able to add something to this site as well.

You don't know how much you've just made my day, THFC (especially,... as the admin,... by what you DID, i.e. what you indicated in the part I put in bold, and, moreover, HOW you did it, i.e. seamlessly). ... And, based on what you've shown thus far, as per your last sentence, I too hope you decide to bring a little more to "the Gridiron" table. ... There is opportunity to be had here.  I'm just lookin' for folks to step up and take the bull by the horns.  But, by all means, hang out, be patient, get a feel for the place for a while, and do what's comfortable for you. See ya 'round!

Thanks Callie.  I've been playing for a few years now.  Won my main league's championship once, placed second a couple of times, and placed third or fourth four more times.  Not too bad I guess, but no-where near enough time these days to devote to FF with a 2 year-old, a new job, trying to sell my house, and relocate.  Still, FF offers a nice distraction from everything else going on.

Week 7 Waiver Wire

Hi guys......I put up a monster 240 points in my league this past weekend (second highest scorer put up 165 which is the normal high score average), moving into 2nd place, and only 2 points behind the leader in the points race.  Looking to make a couple of moves to position myself for this next stretch.  Moves I'm thinking about:

Drop Bledsoe and pick up Leinart (Bulger on bye, and he plays SD week 8).  Leinart plays against Oak and GB next 2 weeks, plays Detroit week 11 when Bulger goes against Carolina, plays Seattle week 14 (Bulger vs Chicago), and SF week 16 when Bulger plays Washington.

Didn't pick up Henry last week (saw Brown was back in the mix before p/u time, and was scared off him), but got Galloway instead.

F/A available this week include T. Henry, Branch, and Jennings.  Of the players on my team, Foster, Caddy, Driver and Galloway are the ones who could be expendable.  In a 1 ppr and 1 point per 10 yards rush/rec, with bonuses for length of TD, would you drop anyone on my team for a FA?

Thanks, and I look forward to another week of great fantasy talk.

Really like your take on Leinart, and the research you did answers your question.   I have Leinart in the GBRFL2 and fielded a couple offers before these past 2 weeks.   Needless to say, I didn't bite, and hopefully these 2 weeks show what he'll do over  the rest of the season/career.

As for your 2nd WW query, hard to say w/o seeing the whole roster.   But it's amazing to me that Jennings is on the WW.  He's a much better option in your league that Driver IMO, especially with the long play bonus.  I'd probably do that switch anyway.

Beyond that, do you need Henry?   Who else are you starting at RB?

It's an 8 team league (for the first time in this league), and there is a little talent left over [I wanted to expand the rosters, but got outvoted].

My team is:

Bulger, Bledsoe
Tiki, Caddy, Foster, McAllister
Holt, Driver, B. Edwards, Galloway
Gates, LJ Smith
Keading, J. Brown
Jax D/ST, Denv D/ST

I can start 1 RB, 1 WR, 3 Flex.

I guess I don't necessarily need Henry, but could use someone consistent.  Right now I'm playing matchups between Foster, Deuce, and Caddy, and filling in with as many WRs as necessary.

I would make the Leinart-for-Bledsoe move.  MORE IMPORTANTLY, GET HENRY!!! I'd rather have Henry and Branch than Driver and Galloway.  I wouldn't quite go giving up on the Caddy just yet.  It could come back to haunt you.

WEEK 9

Picked up M. Bell (dropped Galloway) during the week, and considering starting Tiki, Deuce, Bell, Holt and Driver this week (Foster on bye, see Caddy as having worst matchup).

J. Lewis is also on the ww (not too good in PPR league, but 100 yards and a TD would be decent).

Should I sit Bell for Caddy, or pick up Jamal?

Honestly, I think you've nailed it. I'd sit Caddy and let Lewis ride the WW some more.

But Lewis and Caddy have softer run D's this week (CIN & NO, respectively).  Bell plays the Steelers run D.  I'd play either Lewis or Caddy and sit Bell.

Hmm, I think you've got 2 choices.   Move a player you probably wont get back, in the effort to win this week.   Or 2), stick with Bell, but sit him vs. PIT D and start Caddy, hoping for the best.

I know it's late in the week, but as a rule, I hate dropping players that I know will be snatched off the WW.   Bell is that type of player.  Coming off his 2 score performance, he's a perfect sell high candidate, IMO.   If you can get a nice WR for him, or a QB to replace Bledsoe (still have him?), then trade him and go get Lewis off the WW .

However, if you believe Bell is going to continue to be a nice performer (not likely IMO as he splits too much time), then just start Caddy and hope for the best.   I agree with you, Bell is not a good start vs. PIT.

good luck!

If it's still available to you, TH, I'd go and get Jamal.  He's not a step down from Cadillac... in the long run here this year.  Hold on to Mike Bell, for sure, after last week, BUT don't play him this week against Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh.  Go get Jamal and play him at home against Cincy.  If you can drop someone else to acquire him, do so.  If not, go ahead and drop Caddy for him.  No loss, bro.
