It seems to be that Frye will hold onto the starting QB job... for the time being... according to "The REAL Feed": Crennel to name Frye Cleveland's No. 1 QB NFL News: RealFootball365.com (31.08.2007 18:10) According to multiple sources, the Cleveland Browns will name Charlie Frye, not Brady Quinn, their opening-day starting quarterback. The Browns open the season on Sept. 9 against the AFC North rival Pittsburgh Steelers. Sources: Frye, not Quinn, to start for Browns ESPN: NFL (31.08.2007 17:52) There has been no official announcement from coach Romeo Crennel, but all indications are that quarterback Charlie Frye has retained the Browns' starting job for the outset of the season and will open against the Steelers.

| NFL live had a little blurb on this. They showed a graphic that Clevelands first 5 games are against the top defenses from last year. Apparently, (according to them) the thought is that the Browns did not want to throw Quinn against those top Ds.
