HMMMMMMMMM.....I Wonder??????? March 9, 2007 Texans have eyes on Quinn By Len Pasquarelli ESPN.com On the list of the world's 946 billionaires published by Forbes Magazine this week, Houston Texans owner Bob McNair ranked No. 664, with reported assets of $1.5 billion. That's good, because it seems that for the second time in six years, McNair is going to be opening up the bank vault to sign a top-10 quarterback from the draft. The man Houston coach Gary Kubiak quietly had targeted to be his starting quarterback in 2007, Jake Plummer, has retired. Or at least Plummer claims to have walked away from the game, even if he hadn't officially filed the paperwork with the league office as of Thursday evening. But just because it appears that Plummer won't be reunited with Kubiak doesn't mean that incumbent starter David Carr is safe as the Texans' starting quarterback for the coming season.

Dayne sticks it out with the Texans for another year, a very wise move for him to stay a) with Kubes, who ultimately has his back (as I've pointed out ad nauseam), b) in a familiar situation in general, and 3) right behind injury-prone, high-mileage Ahman Green. From "The REAL Feed": Former Heisman winner Dayne sticks with Texans ESPN: NFL (17.03.2007 11:10) Veteran tailback Ron Dayne, who re-energized his slumping career with the Houston Texans in 2006, has reached agreement to return to the team after exploring options with other clubs during the first two weeks of the free agent signing period. Welcome back, old friend!

YIKES!!! There's an "original" gambit... We're still copying and pasting his numbers with the Giants. I mean,... do we really need to do this dance for the umpteenth time??? I mean... I don't at all mind your disagreeing with my position. What I mind is the discussion's going in circles. I mean,... does it really need to be explained/argued AGAIN why Dayne's numbers back in New York are of very limited, if not absolutely no, value to assessing Dayne at this point, some three years and two teams later??? Think: Bettis's career - St. Louis, Bettis's career - Pittsburgh; Thomas Jones's career - Cardinals, Jones's career - Bears; Lamar Smith's career - Seattle, his time with the Dolphins; Droughn's career - Lions, Droughn's career since, especially with the Broncos,... and the list goes on... and that's just to talk running backs. AND, mind you, this goes both ways... there was James with the Colts, and there is James with the Cardinals. Okay,... whew... For the umpteenth time Dayne was a TOTAL MISFIT in New York. Yes, that did cause him to become extremely discouraged (a position with which I can ABSOLUTELY empathize) and that snowballed into his bout with weight. But, make no mistakes! The bottom line was that he didn't come close to suiting the Giants' scheme on offense. So, come on... Enough already... ... And,... who's saying fantasy footballers should "count on him", anyway???
