News:  Week 12 Panthers Player Rankings

This is almost to easy, just stay away.  Testaverte will start, Steve Smith is back, but with a sore shin. Colbert had one good week.
New Orleans is tough against the run and the Carolina defense will not contain the N.O. offense.  Stay away from this team.

News:  Week 11 Panthers Player Rankings

Once again it will be Testaverde who will get the start, no word on the backup, look elsewhere for a QB. Drew Olson will not likely dress this week and has been dropped.

Steve Smith is pretty banged up and has not practiced, if he plays he will be no more than a #2.

DeShawn Foster continues to slip, with about the same out of DeAngelo Williams at RB, I'd say low #3s.  Fisher continues to get the ball thrown his direction, but is a high #3 this week.

I still like the Carolina defense, but would like it alot better if there was some offense.  Look for GB to be 9-1 and Carolina to slip further into the depths of degradation at 4-6.

News:  Week 10 Panthers Player Rankings

The big news for Carolina Panthers is that Carr is out for Sunday and Testaverde sore hamstring and all is scheduled to start. Caroloina will have Matt Moore as the main backup and have signed quarterback Drew Olson off of the practice squad. Olson put up some very outstanding numbers at UCLA a couple of year ago, but has never played a down in the NFL, stay away from this situation all together.

As good as Smith is as a talent, he will not do much being double and triple teamed with lame QBs, stay away from all receivers at Carolina, except Jeff Fisher at TE, call him a #2.

The only thing to really talk about is the Carolina Defense, I think the match up this week against Atalanta, makes them a low #1.

News:  Week 8 Panthers Player Rankings

The Panthers now sit atop the NFC South with a 4-2 record and a three game win streak on the line.  They face the undefeated defending Super Bowl Champion Indianapolis Colts 6-0.

Vinny Testaverte continues to get the start despite the fact that David Carr has had another week to nurse his bad back.  Carr will be ready to go if something happens to the ageless Vinny who should be considered a #3 QB this week.

DeShaun Foster remains the start RB ahead of DeAngelo Williams.  Both have the chance to do well against Indy, but both are #3s struggling to be #2s.

Steve Smith is a #1 WR, with Carter, Colbert, and Jarrett all #3s.  At TE, I belive Fisher may move into a #2 this week, use him Vinny!

The Panthers have a reputation for beating undefeated teams and plan on doing so this weekend.  They will not get the job done.

News:  Week 7 Panthers Player Rankings

The Panthers had a big win last week over the Cardinals with the ageless Vinny Testaverde at the helm as QB.  Jake the Snake Delhomme underwent the Tommy Johns surgery on his elbow, while Carr continues to nurse a bad back.  This is a much needed bye week for Carr and he should be ready to go for week 8, but the solid performance by Testaverde does give the Panthers at least a solid veteran option and a chance to win against Indy in week 9, just do not count on it.

News:  Week 6 Panthers Player Rankings

The Carolina Panthers (3-2) will meet the Arizona Cardinals (3-2) at Phoenix on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. EST.  The game will match-up two NFC division leaders coming off big three-point road wins last week. An interesting side note is that the Panthers are undefeated on the road, while the Cardinals are undefeated at home.

Delhomme will have surgery on his injured right elbow and is out for the season. David Carr, bad back and all, will get the start and remains a lackluster #3. The ageless Vinny Testaverde has been signed as a veteran back-up and though he will not likely play would make an interesting story if he were to get into the game against Curt Warner of the Cardinals.

The Cardinals have been a surprise this year and should give the Panthers a very tough game.  With Leinart out for the season, I think there is an upgrade at QB with Warner, though no one knows how long he will stay healthy. The game still pretty much boils down to which QB plays the better game, nothing is scary about either teams defense.  By the way, Vinny can still wing the ball with zip down field.

Steve Smith, remains a start at #1, he has 25 receptions for 360 yards and 5 TDs. By contrast Keary Colbert has only 13 catches for 176 yards and one TD, making him a #3.

I would call the tight end, Jeff King, a low #2 this week, maybe even a TD. He remains the 2nd leading receiver for the Panthers with 16 catches for 177 yards and a TD.  I am not banking on QB chemistry with Carter having a bad back and Testaverte needing a few starting reps at backup through this weeks practice.

DeShaun Foster, a low #2, gets about two thirds of the carries over DeAngelo Williams, a low #3.  Foster would be a good bye week back.  Carr will try to rely heavily on running game this week, so I look for a lot of carries, with the possibility of a TD out of the running game.

The Carolina defense needs to put on a game face this week.  Julius Peppers has been missing in action this season and needs to make his presence known in terms of production and team leadership.  Five games and only two QB sacks on the season for the whole team, you do not get in Warner’s face and he will eat your lunch!!!!

News:  Week 5 Panthers Player Rankings

Carolina, now 2-2, play against another NFC South rival in a tough match up with a vengeful 0-3 New Orleans Saints.

Delhomme continues to be unlikely with the bad right elbow. That continues to leave the starting job going to a hapless David Carr. Carr did not look good last week against Tampa Bay, call him a low #3.

The Saints have been pathetic thus far this year and should give the Panthers a shot, to win another game.  A lot of what happens depends on how well Carr is able to work with all world receiver Steve Smith and how well the running game works.

Steve Smith, a must start #1, had only four catches for 32 yards but what is equally important is that no other receiver stepped up production last week. Drew Carter and Kerry Colbert, low #3s, would be considered very weak starts.

The surprise guy has been, a #3 tight end, Jeff King, Jeff fell off last week as well. He is the 2nd leading receiver for the Panthers.  Perhaps better QB chemistry will pick up for all receivers this week, it certainly needs to.

DeShaun Foster, a low #2, had a decent game last week with 62 rushing yards and a NO TD! DeAngelo Williams, a low #3, had only two carries and three catches last week.  The running game should click pretty good this week, but I do not expect a lot of fantasy value here.

The Carolina defense is critical to a win this week.  The Saints are without the Deuce and that means the high voltage Reggie Bush show should be in full view.  The Line Backers will have their work cut out for them all day long.  They will need to bear down on Reggie early and often to give their team a chance for a win.  I think they may get the job done, call it a low #2 defense this week.

News:  Week 4 Panthers Player Rankings

Carolina play against NFC South rival Tampa Bay with the availability of starting quarterback Jake Delhomme unlikely.

Delhomme is tied for the NFC lead in touchdown passes and quarterback rating, but has a bum right elbow. That leaves the starting job going to David Carr. Carr looked good in limited play, call him a low #3.
The Buccaneers were looking good with wins against the hapless New Orleans Saints and St. Louis Rams, so this should be a good game to watch.

Steve Smith, a must start #1, had only one catch for 10 yards but also drew an important 37-yard pass interference penalty against Atlanta. Drew Carter and Kerry Colbert, low #3s, are like twins out there picking up about 7 receptions a game.

The surprise guy, a #2 tight end, Jeff King, had four receptions for 56 yards and one touchdown. He is the 2nd leading receiver for the Panthers.

DeShaun Foster, a low #2, had a great game last week with 122 rushing yards and a TD and got another TD via the air! DeAgelo Williams, a low #3, is still getting his carries, thus limiting either back as a stud in fantasy terms. They are ranked 6th in the NFL in rushing.

The Carolina defense allowed 442 yards of total offense, they did manage to keep the Falcons out of the end zone in the final 24 minutes of the game. The team can play some defense, but I would call them a #3 at this stage of the game.

News:  Week 3 Panthers Player Rankings

Delhomme has now thrown six TD strikes in two weeks, plus 617 yards and is proving that he may be an every week starter and a #1 QB.  Did I mention his 116.6 QB rating in week #2?  Not just a good back up to your regular starter anymore baby!!! At RB you still have a committee arrangement with DeShawn Foster and DeAngelo Williams.  They will both see better number this week against Atlanta, but should not be considered more that a high #3 at this position. Steve Smith is a High #1with his four TD’s last week.  Start him, he is probably the top two WR in the league Drew Carter remains a High #3 Will continue the season as the #2 receiver.  As Smith continues to get double and tripled teamed Carter will get his chances to score. I’m calling him a high #3.  WR Dewayne Jarrett Low #3 I’m thinking he may surpise a few people this week. WR Ryne Robinson #4 though still pretty  low on the depth chart, I think he has better tools than Keary Colbert and may see more chances Keary Colbert low #4, way to many weapons and only so many shots to go around. TE Jeff King Middle #2 look for more passes to him this week, he will produce if your #1 is out of commission PK John Kaysay High #2 I like this guy every week, all he needs is opportunity and he will get them against Atlanta D/ST #1 This is a really solid defensive unit, just off the elite chart, they stumbled last week, but will be a top defensive unit against the hapless Falcons.

QB
Jake
Delhomme
Middle #2 Delhomme threw three TD strikes last week and is moving up in the ratings.  He would be a good backup to your regular starter.
QB
David
Carr
Low #4 Not a factor as long as Delhomme continues to produce.
RB
DeAngelo
Williams
Low #2Lost battle with DeShaun Foster for the start, but carried 15 times for 62 yards.  Panthers have improved the offensive line and blocking scheme and it showed in week one with over 160 rushing yards.
RB
DeShaun
Foster
Middle #2Won battle with DeAngelo Williams for the start, but carried 17 times for 94 yards.  The Panthers running back attack by committee looks pretty awesome right now.  Good for the team, not so great for fantasy owners.
WR
Steve
Smith
High #1Start him, he fantastic and went off for 118 yards last week.  Look for him to add a score this week.
WR
Drew
Carter
High #3Will continue the season as the #2 receiver.  An opportunistic vulture who grabbed two TDs last week.  With all the developing weapons, he should continue to produce.
WR
Dewayne
Jarrett
Low #4I always like 6’5” guys who can jump with talent, he could score this week.
WR
Ryne
Robinson
#5He's pretty low on the depth chart, but should overtake Keary Colbert as the slot receiver.
WR
Keary
Colbert
#5Time will tell.  At this point, ranking him continues to be a risky enterprise.
TE
Jeff
King
Middle #3I was correct in seeing more passes to him last week, he got 5 for 35 yards.  Paltry, but steady is what I see here.
PK
John
Kaysay
Middle #2Just a really good kicker who will produce as much as opportunity allows him to.
D/ST
----------Low #1 This is a really solid defensive unit, just off the elite chart.

QB
Jake
Delhomme
Middle #2This ranking could be all over the place this year.  The receiving corps has potential beyond Smith, but there are more questions than answers here.
QB
David
Carr
Low #4 It all depends on whether he'll get playing time, which is unlikely at this point, this may change as the season grinds on.
RB
DeAngelo
Williams
Low #2Will Battle DeShaun Foster for the start and should win.  Panthers were terrible at the run, but have improved the offensive line and blocking scheme, so should improve this season.
WR
Steve
Smith
High #1Throw him the pill over the middle, inside, outside, anywhere, he will make the catch.
WR
Drew
Carter
High #4Will start the season as the #2 receiver.  Has elite speed and jump, but reluctant to take one over the middle.
WR
Dewayne
Jarrett
Low #4If he learns the pro game, should work his way into the #2 slot.  Loads of talent, minus elite speed.
WR
Ryne
Robinson
#5He's pretty low on the depth chart, but should overtake Keary Colbert as the slot receiver.
WR
Keary
Colbert
#5Time will tell.  At this point, ranking him is a risky enterprise.
TE
Jeff
King
Middle #3I look for more passes to go his way and if he stays healthy may have some good games. Michael Gaines out for the season.
PK
John
Kaysay
Middle #2He had a 100 points last year, John will do well as long as the offense allows him to be in position to score.
D/ST
----------Low #1 Can you say, Julius Peppers? He is the real deal and makes the defense tick.  The Line is very good, the LBs are decent and the defensive backs are solid.
