"Missing 'in action'"!?!?

Guys, we can recycle this one all year long... "Enjoy!" Bring up your own M.I.A. players and, moreover, respond to others' M.I.A. players with whom you know what's up... The two guys I am wondering about this week: WR's Deion Branch and Matt Jones!!! What the hell happened to these guys??? Were they even on the field??? I guess Branch really is nothing but a #2... "at best",... and all the offseason rhetoric about Jones's falling out of favor really was correct. But, that's just my conjecture. Does anybody know what happened with these guys today???

| From the Seattle Times Branched out Seahawks wide receiver Deion Branch figured to be Hasselbeck's prime target this season. In the end, he might be. But not Sunday. Branch was held without a catch for the first time in 66 games in which he has been on the active roster for his team. "In our system right now, Deion should touch the ball more than any of the other receivers," Holmgren said. "We've done this with teams as well. You come in and you say 'OK, we're not going to let him touch the ball quite as much,' and clearly they had that as part of the plan."

| Luckily, I'm deep enough in the league in which I have Clayton, so I could sit him....OR SO I THOUGHT! I sat Clayton in lieu of Driver, Holt, Welker.....and BRANCH Guess I lost either way. At least Branch was targeted 3 times, and twice in the RZ....I can't find any data that says Clayton even played...anyone know? I missed most of the game.

| I think Holmgren's spin here is supposed to be taken as a "positive" for Branch. The fact is, though, that the part of that quote that I've bolded above is DISTURBING. The REALLY good, legit go-to wideouts can't be TOTALLY shut-down,... moreover, as Holmgren points out, when the system is set up for them to succeed. The take-away here is that it's looking more and more like the preseason hype was just that, hype that is, and Branch is NOT a legit #1 wideout. I guess we'll see how it plays out, but my optimism is waning.

Troupe's "M.I.A.-ness" is kind of old news, though. At this point, he's more of an "I'm a bust" kind of guy. But, anyway,... to "the Gridrion", friend. Enjoy the site... We've got a GREAT bunch here.

| To be fair, STL had 3 subs in on the O-Line. And SF is no pushover on D anymore. You can go ahead and pull a trade, I'm sure you'll have plenty of suitors, but I'd say it's to early.

On a serious administrative... , while I realize that the distinction between the point of this thread vis-a-vis our traditional "weekly bitchin'" thread(s) "between the 20's" is VERY fine, this thread literally is for guys who have players who DID NOT RECORD A STAT (at least at their regular position) and are wondering and hoping that someone around here knows WHY. Some of these posts being made about players like Larry Johnson or Steven Jackson, who, though maybe they didn't "show up" in a figurative sense, did in fact "show up", are better suited to our "weekly bitchin'" thread and should (have) be(en) posted there. Here is a direct link to the current "weekly bitchin'" thread: http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/cgi-bin/theGridiron/YaBB.cgi?board=56;a ction=display;num=1189384815. Please make further posts of the kind quoted in this post on that thread, and let's stick to genuine "M.I.A." issues on this thread (which is what makes this thread "Red Zone-appropriate"). Thank you all (sk ) for your anticipated understanding and future compliance. |

I would like to take this opportunity to thank ESPN, Sportsline.com, and many other "experts" for saying that Ward and Jacobs were OUT last night. Many people, including myself, picked up Reuben Droughns, who was missing in action until the VERY end of the game. Going into the 4th quarter, he had 1 cary for -1 yard. He ended up with 5 carries for 8 yards, all happening when the game was over. I hate 'experts'!!!

| Apparently Coughlin learned on Saturday that Ward would be OK to play. He didn't inform the media that Ward would be playing, but usually that type of info works its way into someone's hands anyway. Guess he's running a real tight ship there.

| I heard he was taking Al Davis lessons. Anyway, didn't some guy named Bulger use to play in St. Louis? I just have this vague memory..... The league I own him in drafts relatively early, and it's the same league I owned Hasslebeck in last year! In every other league other than GBRFL2, I'm either good or OK at QB. What is it with that league?
