Redskins Offseason Report

Sounds like they'll use Portis as the feature back in '08:

Snyder and Cerrato raved about Clinton Portis during interviews with head coaching prospects, sources said. Another renegotiation of his contract is likely. While Gibbs sometimes referred to Portis and Ladell Betts as "interchangeable," sources said that Snyder and Cerrato spoke of Betts solely as a backup. Team sources said they expect Betts to resume kick returning duties in 2008. Free agent Rock Cartwright is expected to depart.

The Washington Redskins fought off the advances of Jacksonville, the New York Giants and the St. Louis Rams to keep backup quarterback Todd Collins.

Collins agreed to a three-year, $9 million deal to stay in Washington. Though the Giants and Rams made hard pushes after the 12:01 a.m. Friday morning opening of free agency, the Jaguars made the hardest push to pull Collins away from the Redskins.

The Taylor deal with the Phins... reported LOCALLY on "The REAL Feed":

Proud chapter of Dolphins history closes with Taylor trade
Miami Herald: Sports (20.07.2008 23:13)
It was smart and it was sad, all at once, the Sunday evening trade that all of a sudden turned Jason Taylor into a former Miami Dolphin. Just like that. Eleven NFL seasons of No. 99, instantly put to past tense.

He'll be much needed considering the Daniels season-ender... Also reported LOCALLY on "The REAL Feed"...

Rough Start, Big Finish
Washington Post: Sports (21.07.2008 00:34)
A source within the NFL says Redskins defensive end Phillip Daniels injured a left knee ligament and could miss the upcoming season.

The Redskins looked SOOOO bad on Saturday night that head coach Jim Zorn is actually "considering" playing his starters in the last preseason game on Thursday.

If you had the chance to catch any of the game, you would agree that the Redskins looked DISGUSTINGLY HORRIBLE.  They could not play offense or defense.  They gave up two 50+ yard rushing TDs and their offense ended the first quarter with NEGATIVE passing yards.  They ended the first half with about 30 yards total passing.
