Marshawn Lynch could be in a little hot water. A car he owns was involved in a hit-and-run accident that sent a young woman to the hospital with bruises and a laceration.
It has now been determined that Lynch (and others) were in the car at the time of the accident, although there has not been any announcement of who was driving the vehicle. The Erie County (NY) District Atty is getting a bit annoyed at the lack of cooperation from Lynch and his attorney thus far.
If Lynch is charged and becomes unavailable for any part of the season, it's not a great situation for the Bills' running game. Right now they have Fred Jackson and Dwayne Wright as the backups, along with rookie 6th round pick Xavier Omon. Jackson averaged more than 5 yards a carry on 58 attempts in 2007. Wright didn't do much with his 29 carries last year (his rookie season) and didn't enter the league with much fanfare. Omon was an outrageously productive college back with excellent size, albeit at a Division II school.
This could be a big blow to the Buffalo offense. They looked like they were improved for the 2008 season with Edwards having more experience and also adding some size. They also drafted a big receiver (James Hardy) to give them more of a redzone threat. If Lynch is lost for any period of time, the entire offense could suffer.
With Lynch sure to miss some time due to the fact he hit and ran (DOH!) it is going to be an interesting camp to watch in Buffalo. Wright was SUPPOSED to be the back up last year, but it never happened. Fred Jackson, with his yards per carry, actually played pretty well.
My money is on Jackson to emerge as the starter.
Because we all know, Lynch not only faces the law, he faces Goodell.

While I do not disagree with Double-D's analysis at all in terms of in-house solutions, I do think that at present phone calls between Bills' officials and representatives for former Bill Travis Henry are taking place. They may not amount to anything in the end, but I'd be surprised if they were not taking place at all.
By the way, here's a link to a piece on the Lynch situation from off "The REAL Feed":
