Jets In-season Report
« on: Dec 24th, 2008, 11:16pm »

Both of these sagas will work themselves out more in the offseason on the offseason report thread...  But, here we go... (again, with regards to story number one)...  From a LOCAL source that rolls off "The REAL Feed":

Favre drops hint about Jets future
New York Daily News: Sports - Football (24.12.2008 13:58)
The Jets want Brett Favre to return in 2009, but does Favre want the Jets? Does he want any team in the NFL? It didn't sound like it Wednesday, as Favre, in his weekly news conference at the Jets' facility, was downcast and reflective.

And, then, besides the guy who's under center, there is the little issue of who's gonna be the head coach...

No word on Eric's '09 status
New York Daily News: Sports - Football (24.12.2008 13:58)
Long before Giants running back Derrick Ward learned to sidestep tacklers in the NFL, he was dodging bullets in south central Los Angeles. Ward once admitted rubbing elbows with gang members as a teen.

Contrary to the headline, does it really even matter? From "The REAL Feed":

Favre to have MRI, will affect decision to play
ESPN: NFL (28.12.2008 21:33)
Brett Favre will have an MRI exam Monday on his ailing right shoulder, saying it would affect his decision on whether he'll come back for another season with the New York Jets.

As somewhat expected...  From a LOCAL source rolling "The REAL Feed":

Eric Mangini fired as Jets' coach
New York Daily News: Sports - Football (29.12.2008 10:26)
Eric Mangini is out as the Jets' coach, FoxSports and the NFL Network are reporting. Woody Johnson will announce the firing at a 10 am news conference, the Daily News confirmed.

On second,... thirty-second,... thought,... injury's minor... From "The REAL Feed":

Sources: Favre's shoulder pain from biceps tear
ESPN: NFL (30.12.2008 15:11)
Brett Favre has been told by doctors that pain in his right shoulder is from a biceps tear but that he would need nothing more than arthroscopic surgery to repair it, sources said.

And, in other "future"-related news...  Even though he said he ain't coming back next year, they're going to give it a try... according to "The REAL Feed":

Jets plan to speak with Cowher about coaching job
SI.com: NFL (30.12.2008 16:28)

Favre to take his time and mull things over this time, something he should have done the times before.  The team will take care of themselves.  From "The REAL Feed":

Report: Favre taking month before deciding future

Jets bring in Raven to coach team...  I guess we're goin' from planes to flyin' Flintstone's style...  From one of the "The REAL Feed's" many LOCAL sources:

Ravens Defensive Coordinator Ryan Hired as Jets Coach
Washington Post: Sports (20.01.2009 02:27)
The Jets hired Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan as their head coach, a day after the Ravens lost the AFC championship game in Pittsburgh.
