Don't think this'll have as much of an on-field and, thus, fantasy impact as it will a Panthers executive "warroom" impact,... but it's big news at any rate, so here it is... in the form of two headlines on "The REAL Feed" that capture both sides of the coin:

Panthers lock up QB Delhomme through 2014 with extension
NFL.com (23.04.2009 15:58)
The Carolina Panthers have signed Jake Delhomme to a five-year extension that keeps the quarterback under contract through the 2014 season. NFL.com's Steve Wyche reports the deal to be worth $42.5 million, with $20 million guaranteed.

Panthers extend Delhomme to clear cap space
SI.com: NFL (23.04.2009 15:25)
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- The Carolina Panthers have signed Jake Delhomme to a five-year extension that keeps their quarterback under contract through the 2014 season.

Will a change in quarterback mentoring really be a good thing for Jake?  This is one of those details that savvy fantasy footballers should be aware and take note of...  From a LOCAL source on "The REAL Feed":
