Look, I for one do NOT intend to update this thread every time the breezes (read, not winds) of change waft (read, not blow) through (hence, the commencement of this thread just today). BUT, when I read a fantastic, WELL-THOUGHT-OUT, and well-written for that matter, piece that avoids the extremes and represents the middle ground and, moreover, middle way this well, I feel compelled to share it. In this instance, I am very proud to say, "From 'The REAL Feed'": Line of Scrimmage: Favre Detractors Are Missing the Point The Sports Network: NFL (07.05.2009 12:34) Well done, Mr. Moss!

In stark contrast to the intelligent piece linked to above,... ... basically, yesterday was one big detour. There was not a shred of substance to the "report" that the "highly-esteemed" "news source" Yahoo.com (an internet search engine at heart), who can't help but show their zombie-like support for the Democratic party inappropriately via their RSS feed (as you can see on "The REAL Feed", but I digress...), "broke" yesterday. We, ESPN should have known better than to give these hacks too much credit for a breaking report. In short, what happened yesterday was some knucklehead, to whom Yahoo somehow has given a license to "report", merely learned of Childress's not leaving Minnesota for a visit with Favre, which, mind you, was not 100% in stone anyway, and, then, extrapolated from that shaky premise all the way to "Report: Favre to stay retired"... as if he was writing the definitive end of the story and to Favre's career. Meanwhile, it was just complete conjecture... as today proved to be the case.

Oh, brother... Now, I too am getting sucked in... But, I feel like I have to report this since I made the post above. That said, I don't think, like most of these dumb-ass, up-to-the-second reports I promised (myself) not to fall victim to, it changes the bottom line, namely that he'll play as long as the Vikings want him and he is physically able to... Currently topping "The REAL Feed": Source: Brett Favre surgery not imminent after all ESPN: NFL (18.05.2009 23:34) Sources tell ESPN's Ed Werder that Brett Favre will not meet with Dr. James Andrews on Tuesday and surgery is not imminent. Sheesh... I'm already sick and tired of appending meaningless reports to this thread...

Favre's decision pending... and now, he says,... they say,... impending... From "The REAL Feed": Report: Favre by Friday Scout.com > NFL > National Football League Team (21.07.2009 07:18) If a report on NFL.com proves accurate, Brett Favre could let the Vikings know by Friday whether or not he will play for them his season. In that report, the deciding factor has changed from physical health to the mental grind required of NFL players.

I'm VERY wary about the substance of this report... But, I just got to post it for shits and giggles... From "The REAL Feed": Sources: Brett Favre conflicted about resuming career as deadline nears ESPN: NFL (23.07.2009 12:22) With the Vikings scheduled to report to training camp in less than a week, Brett Favre remains anguished about whether he should come out of retirement and join the team, according to sources. I mean... get a LOAD of this quote from early on in the piece, "'If it weren't for the involvement of the Vikings players directly telling Brett they want him on their team, I think he might have already decided against playing again,'' a source said (italics added)."

It's quarter 'til midnight Eastern Standard Time, and in an effort to, for once, state the obvious as regards this matter... From "The REAL Feed": Favre's agent: QB won't have a decision Friday about joining Vikings NFL.com (24.07.2009 17:47) The Minnesota Vikings are still waiting for word from quarterback Brett Favre on whether he will end his retirement and join them for training camp, which starts in less than a week. The Associated Press asked Favre's agent, Bus Cook, if a decision was coming Friday. Cook answered with a single w... ...

What will there QB depth chart look like? 1 - Favre 2 - Rosenfels 3 - Jackson Are they totally giving up on Jackson? |
| I've had a response to this for some time, Primer. I'm sorry for just now getting around to it... The timing, as you know, has been a bit rough... But, I digress... I think the answer to the last question may end up (de facto) being yes. As for the Rosenfels thing, I just think,... thought from day one,... it was just doofy... and desperate. My ultimate take here,... if Favre does come in, it'll be Favre for a year or two, maybe even three. He will then toward the end mentor and then hand it off to a well-groomed John David Booty, whose game sort of resembles Favre's somehow. I will add this about Jackson... I do think they are bailing on the guy too fast. I think the guy's game has upswing, but, on the other hand, I'm almost convinced that he isn't well suited to the Viking's (present) offensive scheme. Alright,... over and out...
