pauly, you are probably going to hear much the same from Walker. Anyway, you might have noticed my (and Walker's) lack of participation in our first-ever NFL mock draft here on "the Gridiron". That is because this is not my (and his) strong point. As we know, though I am a very verbose guy when it comes to posting on a message board (because I think it is usually necessary to really get my point across), I am pretty "cut to the chase" when it comes to fantasy-football strategy. I am not a big college football fan, and needless to say this past season I was in Korea. But, when it becomes necessary (read July/August), I get around to reading up on and learning about the rookies of fantasy importance, which, moreover, in my world means offensive players as I have only ever played in leagues where you play a team defense. So, (overall) my knowledge is pretty much concentrated on the offensive side of the ball. Given all of that and the fact that I am not living in Colorado, as for the Broncos' (overall) needs (i.e. including on defense), I am not really "in the know." Yea, based on their cuts (I think), DE is obviously a need. I also kind of think they could use another quality DB/CB, but I don't know what really is available out there to fill that niche and, moreover, if the ones out there merit a first-round pick, and, for that matter, how much the Broncos consider it a need. Finally, yes, if Plummer does not sign with us , we need to get our hands on one of these rookie quarterbacks. And, yes, based on what (relatively little) I know about him: his performance at the combine, and the combination of his stature and speed/quickness (he's a BIG, mobile guy cut in the mold of ), as well as where they are in the draft, Boller seems to be an EXCELLENT pick. I actually think, as far as rookies go, he is the QB best-suited to the Broncos. So, as for your pick, especially given ALL the f'n uncertainty around Plummer at this point, (but, remember, that is a little bit of a green thumbs up)!

Well, Walker, unfortunately this reality... on Mar 6th, 2003, 8:36am, Walker Boh wrote:| The college game is too big to follow. | Duely noted by the site admin! It is just that every other site is in such a rush! In any event, I agree and I think we will comply next year. But, since we got goin' so early this year, let's keep this sucka' movin' for a couple more rounds! on Mar 6th, 2003, 8:19am, paulinstl wrote:| Well, the day I make this pick for the Doncos, they decide to bring Plummer to Denver, thus making my pick, and following picks, not representative or accurate. |
| Actually, pauly, even with the Plummer signing, I don't think your pick is out of line. I think especially if Stevie B. retires, gettin' Kyle Boller, who, like Plummer, also fits the Broncos system really well, would be a great call. As San Fran has shown, it never hurts to have a number of good, high-quality quarterbacks on your roster. You get BOTH quality backup play when you need it AND the healthy development of a quarterback for the future. As a Bronco and Jake Plummer fan, I would be thrilled if they still went and got Boller.
