FF-League Silliness

I just had to share this with you guys.  I saw it on a league message board out there in cyber space.  It just so exemplifies unintelligent FF-league nonsense, the observance of which is particularly poignant to me considering the FFLA project.  Anyway, here is the dialogue:

Initial Post of the thread (dated today) by Poster A
Just want to find out about what Owners think about having a flex position? In case you don't know a flex position would be a RB, WR, or TE! Here is what you would submit....

1 QB
2 RB
2 WR
1 TE
1 FLEX
1 K
1 DEF

remember I am just asking opinions here....don't go freakin on me here

Second Post, i.e. the first response, by Poster B
no, not a good idea

there will be some who have an extra stud qb or rb that will score more points on average then the guys who have wr and te

Third Post, reply back by Poster A
Thanks for your opinion....

The respondant, who is against the proposal, does not even get the suggestion right. Then, the initial poster thanks the guy for that opinion of his, a really well--out one... and process here! Productive FF-league discussion... love to see it!

It just sickens me; that's all! But, stupid people are funny!

DW, first off, the original point of the thread was just to point out general foolishness.  That exact nonsensical dialogue above actually took place, which, in and of itself, is funny... and pathetic.  But, there is somewhat of an inside joke.  It really should not be divulged here.  JC can let you in on it off the record when you guys get together or talk on the phone.

Just an update (as if you guys want one), the thread discussed herein died after one final innane post by Poster B apologizing for his shooting down the idea as well as for the lack of response from anybody else.  Wonder why?

I have to dig this up just because I have recently been catching up with all the goings-on around here and this makes a fitting end to the "story".

It's funny because I look back on that joke I made and think maybe it wasn't such a good idea.    It seemed to be fine at the time.  I actually only threw it out there because I was getting to know PA Outlaws more and more and had corresponded with him a few times (via the handy-dandy private message feature here) about the Eagles.

When Zags posted his first response, I wasn't sure how to take it, but it seemed to be light-hearted.

Naaa, don't say that, Philster!  If they... he took it the way it was intended, then there's no problem.  If, on the other hand, it contributed to their "angst" here, well, then, fuck 'em; we're better off sheddin' that shit.  I think the latter may have been the case.  But, whatever, either way it ain't on you.

I want to give an analogy here.  It is quite a bit harder-core, but still fitting.  Back in college in ATO, one guy we kicked out of/blackballed from the fraternity, my "pledge son" actually, tried to commit suicide the night after he was blackballed because he was so distraught over it.  I stood by him, especially as he just received the minimum votes to get the boot and I felt the reasons were not really just.  But, a couple days later, one of my good buds from the house, who did not vote against this kid and who was basically on my side throughout, pointed out how the suicide attempt, though sad and frightening, was also pathetic and pretty much proved the point of the guys who had issues with him.  It doesn't mean you don't like the kid, it's just, well,...  You follow where I am going with this...?  Better sooner than later with things like this, usually.

Anyway, also, I thank bg for bringing this thread back up.  While all that shit was going down, this thread was SO in my head.  In light of all that BS, this thread is SO poignant and even ironic.
