Draft Recovery - Thoughts??

I just completed an auction style draft (keeper league) on Friday night and have been sifting through the results over the past two days.  The details of the league are:

12 Teams

Start: 1 QB, 3 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 Team Defense.

Reserves: 2 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 Team Defense.

.5 points per catch.
points for receiving yards start at 50 and tier upward.
points for rushing yards start at 50 and tier upward.
TD's are scored based on distance (4-12 points)

During the draft I took Justin Fargus as my 5th back with my thoughts being I should never have to start him and he could be a good futures guy.  I also thought I may be able to use him since Garner seems to be banged up.  But yesterday, I read news that Kenny Watson was released by the Skins.  He's a free agent in our league.

Question #1:  Is Fargus a worthwhile gamble?  Would he get the nod over Wheatley if Garner can't go?  Or should I waive him and claim a player like Kenny Watson in hopes that he gets picked up by a team where he may get decent playing time (Detroit???).

The other gamble I took was grabbing Teyo Johnson as my 2nd TE.  I have a feeling he has huge upside.  The problem is that I created a bye week problem (intentionally) in hopes he comes up big and I could possibly trade him.  My bye week problem isn't until week 8.  However, looking at the free agents I see Mikhael Ricks being undrafted?

Question #2:  Is the "Teyo Johnson project" worth pursuing or should I grab Ricks now so I have a viable back-up.  I could also grab a L.J. Smith as a project and eliminate the bye problem and hope he would be a viable back-up by week #8.

I realize that these choices shouldn't make or break me for this season, but I would still appreciate any thoughts!

I'm a sit tight kinda guy a the beginning of the season. Specific to Teyo and Fargas, both are top pre-season rookie choices. Who knows how it'll play out, but both got plenty of great reviews. I do see the raiders going to a Wheatley/Fargas comittee if Garner goes down. If Watson does get signed, I can't imagine he'll be much of an impact guy this early, and you mentioned Detroit, James Stewart won't be out all that long. Teyo probably has the best chance to make a bit of an impact this season, but still minimum. Jolley is no slacker of a reciever himself. Long story short, keep 'em both and see how it plays out the first few weeeks.

Be careful with Ricks... he had a lot of hype last year and produced very little.  Now this pre-season he has been injured.  I'd be wary with him.

LJ Smith will get used by the Eagles, though he will probably show up more as the season goes on, so he should stay on waivers for quite a while.  Keep an eye on him knowing that the Eagles like to use their TEs.

Fargas was impressive in the pre-season, though Garner is still #1 and Wheatley will still be #2.  I like Fargas for the long-term, so hold onto him and ignore Watson.
