Home Field Advantage

Looking over some posts from other sites as well as articles, I ran across something a bit intriguing in regards to Fantasy football home field advantage. One league gives the oppurtunity for Fantasy Home teams to choose ONE position (QB,RB,WR,TE,K, - if using IDPs DL,LB,DBs, - you get the idea) per week in which they can start ONE more player at the "chosen" position though, in the final tally of the score, the Fantasy Home Team will get the best - say the RB position was chosen and keeping w/ tradition you play 2 RBs - get the BEST 2 of 3 backs. The third back's stats would not count. Or rather, another league makes you choose just 2 RBs (as I stated before, using RBs for an example but, ANY positon of choice could be used), and you'll get the BEST of those 2 PLUS the other RB you chose for your starting lineup. So in other words, you don't actually get the best 2 of 3 but rather, you choose 3 RBs, and choose 2 of them for your Home Field Advantage Pick. Just wondering what everyone's thoughts and opinions are on this and also, if any of you have your own ideas on this matter to go ahead and share w/ the rest of us. Also, if you like or dislike the diea , opinions & rationales are welcome and I would like to hear WHY you like or dislike the idea. As always, get creative w/ your answers and put some thought behind them. This is a very interesting subject - one that I don't necessarily condone but in any event, am excited to hear other's thoughts and or rationales.

Hey Bgsg, I like that rule and how it is played out in your league or more specifically, the advantage going towards the better finsihing reg. sea. team owner. it is a bit different though than the one I presented in that the extra player you get in the playoffs COUNTS in addition to the rest of the FULL starting lineup. In the situation I presented, an owner would not get the EXTRA player per sey but, only the best 1 of 2 players chosen as the other extra player with lesser stats would not count. Though this situation is in regards to the whole season and a make believe fantasy home feild advantage so to speak. Take it even further into the playoffs and I think its a really kool rule!!! How has it worked out for your league in it's first year (that being the 2003 season)?? Do you like the rule? It makes sense to apply it in leagues that do head to head post season games to cut down on the luck of it all. But then again, others could argue that, even in the NFL you have teams making the big dance that aren't supposed to so,.............whats closer to reality of the NFL is up for grabs in that respect though, in a fantasy setting, for a team that slashed throughout the whole seasoning just to get beat in a playoof game that represents 1/16th of a FF season, is kind of maddening/frustrating in a way.
