Steggies' headin' to the Hall!!!

Guys, I wanted to wait 'til it was in my hand before making this announcement (especially since the we were cutting it quite close). Steggie's heading to the Hall. As many of you know, I am a HUGE Broncomaniac and with Elway's being inducted this year, I planned to be there. Sanders's getting inducted at the same time is a nice bonus, as well. In any event, though, with my heading back to grad school this fall and ultimately being as poor as dirt and just coming off a trip (I had to make) to Denver, it wasn't looking good. But, the eternal optimist that I am, while those factors were going against me, eBay exists and what I had going for me is that I had no pressure to purchase early, I could wait 'til the last possible moment. Most of what I was looking at for the Enshrinement ceremony or the Enshrinement + the Monday Night game was way out of my ballpark. A couple affordable options came about, but I either was outbid or the bidding went beyond affordability for me or I just plumb forgot about and missed the auction. As the last weekend before (i.e. last weekend) came and went, it was looking VERY bleak; the lists were getting very short, obviously, because the time is running out, and I had basically resigned myself to not going. BUT, there was ONE AWESOME PACKAGE deal left that was WELL within my means. The auction ended Monday evening (EST) around 5:00. I remembered it and made it over to eBay with about 8 minutes left. With 22 bids showing and 44 seconds on the clock, I clicked in to place a bid and with ONE bid, avoiding any bidding wars, won it!!! And, mind you, it's not just to the Enshrinement ceremony AND the Monday Night game, it also includes two admission tickets to the Hall of Fame AND, get this, passes to the invitation-only Elway Tailgate party, which John will be at!!! The tickets are like tickets, but these pass things are like press passes. UNREAL!!! I received it all today. So, we got the horse hats, Broncos clothing and memorabilia all out and we're takin' off tomorrow morning. We plan to get most of the way; ultimately, from Saturday until Tuesday we will be staying in Youngstown, Ohio. NOW, I need some help from my fellow fantasy-footballing Gridironers... I am going to make up a poster for the game (with FFPro.com emblazened on it, of course). Since ESPN is broadcasting the game, I want it to read... Elway Sanders P...??? N...??? I don't know what to do with the "P" and the "N". Any suggestions??? I need to know tonight! I am... ...Over and out and looking forward to what you guys can come up with, Steg

Well, with MUCH brainstorming, I've come up with ONE, actually, VERY appropriate one (given the fantasy football slant): Elway Sanders - PHAT Numbers! FFPro.com At any rate, keep 'em comin', fellas! ... Also, Keith, or anybody who happens to know, do you know the Garden State Parkway exit for Rt. 80?

Well, guys, IT WAS AN AWESOME WEEKEND!!! As for the poster, I ended up going with... ELWAY, SANDERS... PHENOMS, NATURALS. - FFPro.com (with sweet photos of them both on the sign) BUT, you wouldn't have been able to see it because I wasn't allowed to enter the stadium with it. I obviously just walked up to a total bitch security guard because, although she had collected a pile of signs, there were many people in the stadium with signs. She said I could retrieve it at the end of the game... if it was there. Of course, it was gone. ... I should have went to another gate and tried to conceal it. Oh well. On to (just some of) the GREAT moments (which that one unfortunate event pales in comparison)... The Enshrinement Ceremony - It was a sea of orange for the induction of the first Bronco ever. The whole stadium grumbled (in a jokey-type way) when mention of the Raiders was made (by Bob Brown).
- Most emotional speeches/moments - Definitely John's daughter Jessica's and John's where they both broke down vaklempt. I was teary-eyed.
 - Most inspirational speech/moment - Carl Eller's, definitely.
It was surely tailored for young men of color, BUT his juxtaposition of the attributes of winners versus that of losers was outstanding: "A winner says it's difficult but possible; a loser says it's possible but difficult. A winner says, 'How can I help?'; a loser says, 'It's not my job.' A winner offers answers as to how it can be done; a loser gives excuses as to why it can't. A winner helps solve the problem; a loser is part of the problem. A winner is confident; a loser is arrogant," and so on! - We had seats just 10 or so rows above ALL the team mascot dudes, making for great pics, including of the Broncos "Barrelman".
- Barry Sanders's has a downright cute (nervous) laugh. It is a very distinct "Butthead" (of Beavis & Butthead) giggle that was constant throughout his speech when something struck his funny bone. After awhile, after he would say something that tickled him and he would do his giggle, the whole stadium kind of followed it with a giggle. It was kind of a "laugh at" and not a "laugh with", but it was all in such a good nature and done very sincerely/endearingly and, ultimately, with the highest of respect, that it was just classic.
- VERY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE!!! It showed what Americans can be!!!
(The only crappy part of the ceremony was Barry Sanders's father's introduction speech.) The John Elway Tailgate Party - Got many close-ups of John Elway.
My mom and I got a picture with him. - Got a picture with Barrelman.
- Awesome food
and a free orange Elway t-shirt. - Gave John a (NEW & IMPROVED, for those in the know of the t-shirt debacle) FFPro.com t-shirt!!!
(Will have more on the t-shirt front soon, fellas!) The Monday Night Broncos-Redskins Game - Great game right to the end with a Broncos late-game comeback even though they ultimately came up short.
 - No really significant injuries sustained by either team.
The Hall of Fame - WOW!!!
- Learned things about my Donkeys that I didn't know/remember: they won the first-ever AFL game, and they were the first AFL team to beat an NFL team.
- Met a bunch of the Broncos cheerleaders who were there the same time we were. They were lovin' my orange and blue Reeboks (well, that's at least the reason they gave for chattin' me up
). - Saw and got great shots of many NFL "things" that are dear to me: the jersey and stuff of Len Dawson (an ATO) and George Blanda (after whom the GBRFL is named), old Buccaneers stuff (that I, contrary to popular opinion, actually liked... the orange factor), the Broncos Super Bowl rings and much, much more.
