Who will do more with his new team, Johnnie Morten with the San Francisco 49ers or Freddie Mitchell with the Kansas City Chiefs?

First and foremost, thanks for making the post, Tony! It poses an excellent and intelligent question in a catchy way. But, it really belongs in "the Red Zone". That having been said, I do appreciate your caution when posting. I understand what you were doing... being careful not to post things willy-nilly in ""the Red Zone", our main board, and for that all of us here on "the Gridiron" are thankful. Given our policy of tolerance with "respect" to "downstream" posting and since this board is being well-trafficked these days anyway, we'll leave this thread here (on the lower board) "between the 20's". But, feel free to post topics such as this in ""the Red Zone" next time. |

In response to the substance of your question, Tony, I think Morton has a better chance of success. Yes, Mitchell is in a much more prolific passing offense, but there are A LOT of mouths to feed ahead of him. He'll be their third receiving option at best, and he's a proven loser. Whereas, Morton has proved that he can put up some numbers in the NFL, moreover, with some pretty poor Lions' teams, and he actually has a chance to become Alex Smith's go-to guy in San Fran.

I wouldn't expect much from either one. If Morton was unable to produce in KC where he had a QB who threw a lot and an inconsistent Eddie Kennison ahead of him, then how should we expect anything more in a less proficient offense with a rookie QB. Freddie, admittedly, has some serious issues. Lack of confidence is not one of them. It turned McNabb off right away, apparently, and even when Mitchell was open (which was more often than you might think) McNabb would throw in a different direction in most cases. Maybe he'll think twice about playing his "Peoples' Champ" role in KC and will get a better opportunity. Right now, if I had to choose between the two, I'd go with FredEx.

And, between Lloyd and Woods, who would you take first? I'd go Lloyd, just because of those crazy-great hands he has flashed. |
