| Since I made this pick, I'll defend it some. Carson Palmer had an off year last year throwing only 26 TDs and 20 INTs. He did set his career high for yards (4100+) and still managed to finish 8th overall in fantasy scoring (using my primary league's scoring system). There's no reason to think that he won't improve this fall. He's 100% healthy. He's got a couple very motivated WRs (both trying to score the big contract). He's got a RB who has finally recovered from a hammy injury that slowed him all of 2007. Coach Lewis has stated that he plans to lean on the running game more heavily in 2008 than he did last year (which helps Palmer in the long run, giving him better opportunities for success in the passing game). Remember, just a couple years ago Palmer was coming off a 32TD-12INT season and was the second QB taken (behind Peyton Manning) in nearly every fantasy league. He's the fifth QB to go in this mock, so I don't think that's out of line.

He certainly performed well in 2007, earned the contract extension, and has looked good in camp so far.... But how many carries will he lose to Warrick Dunn and Cadillac Williams? They're both accomplished and respected running backs. This just looks like it's shaping up as a RBBC to me. |
| If your scoring system works well for it, Graham should get the goal line stuff at the very least. I haven't even heard yet if Williams will be able to play or be allowed to play in the early games. (If they keep him on the PUP list much longer, he's out the first 6 games, right? That's what I remember, anyway. I could be wrong.) I honestly think that if I were depending on Graham as an RB2, I'd try to get Dunn as well. That way I'd have whichever one of them gets more at the start of the season, and I'd have Graham if he takes over later. I think that one of them will get the bulk of the work at points in the season, not just flat out RBBC. ETA: And that makes for the handcuff, too.
