Anybody got a take on this Raiders lawsuit thing?

Is there really any substance to this OR is this just more Al Davis bullshit? I am guessing based on the court's recent decision that there is some substance to his argument. Or, is it just really "good" lawyering? Anyway, what is Davis thinking about... tearing down the NFL, the institution which made him (who he is), one way or another? The quoted sum is MASSIVE to say the least, at least from my knowledge of the economic side of things. I would really love to hear someone, who follows the Raiders but remains objective and perhaps knows more about the economic side of things as it pertains to this issue, out on this.
Anybody out there?

Theoretically, the Raiders must have a case or it wouldn't have gone to a jury, twice. If this was more Al Davis bullshit as you say, then it wouldn't have gotten this far. I say theoretically because I don't know this case. But, in reading your article, it seems legit on its face; if the league conspired to prevent the Raiders from getting a new stadium, the damages could certainly be millions or a billion (a demand is always going to be overboard). Think about the difference in markets, the cost of moving, etc. If there is liability (conspirary, tortious inference with contract, etc), then the Raiders definately could claim significant damages.
As to the issue regarding Al Davis suing the league, I don't know. It happens all the time. Why do players go on strike? Why do family member sue each other?People have grievences and this is the remedy. The NFL will not go down if Davis wins.

I heard a great piece regarding the Raiders lawsuit.
Essentially, Al Davis says he owns the rights to have a team in Los Angeles based on contracts he has had with the city and NFL. Does he really have a claim? In reality, probably not. He lost the last case but got a retrial because of jury misconduct in the case.
BUT, with all that said, does Al possibly have an alterior motive? YES!! First, he ties this case up for a few years with appeals. If the NFL is tied up in court in regards to Los Angeles, they can not move a team to the city which they REALLY want to do.(COLTS are prime canidate). This will enable Al Davis to protect his fan base and revenue.
OR, Al Davis can claim the rights to Los Angeles, the NFL moves a team there, and Al Davis has to be COMPENSATED!! MORE MONEY FOR AL!! It is actually a pretty smart move on his part.
Bottom line is that Al either will get to protect his fan base for a longer period of time or get compensated.
