Yea. Saw Jim Brown. Saw Gale Sayers.
Saw Walter.
I'm real tempted to say Bo Jackson.
His NFL career cut short was the crime-of-the-century.
But.
I gotta go.
Earl "The Tyler Rose" Campbell.
1972.
Simply 100% unstoppable.
Watch the film as Earl drags 3 defenders, and his ripped jersey, into the endzone on 38" (that's a fact - 38") thighs. Each.
A "forgotten" player - that deserves a whole lot more.

No one was better at running over people than Earl.
 
But for shear grace, it has to be Barry Sanders. No one made you miss a tackle like Barry. He could break it for a td every time he touched the ball. It was a pleasure to watch him run. He should still be playing.

In 2000 & 2001, Marshall Faulk played the best RB that I have ever seen. Too bad he plays for the lambs.

I was a huge Barry Sanders fan, too.
The whole situation surrounding his retirement was about the damnedest thing I ever saw.
Remains a complete mystery  ???  to me - but I think that the truth will come out some day.
There's a lot more to that story than Barry not wanting to play for the Lions anymore.
And I ain't buying that he didn't want to break Walter's record while Walter was still alive.
Even Emmitt admitted this Fall that if he was still playing Barry would have the record.
Mulder and Scully need to be called in on this one.

People are going to flame me for this but the best running back I ever saw would have to be:
 
Marshall Faulk.
 
Hey, I only got into football in '96. Yeah, Barry was still around then, but, I am amazed at what Faulk can do, and still does.

If you only "got into football" in '96 ... Marshall Faulk almost certainly IS the best running back you ever saw.

Well, I've got a few favorites.
 
4th and one?  Give me Marcus Allen.
Need a one-man team?  Give me Barry Sanders.
 
For a general back?  Well, if its just one year I gotta go with Dickerson, but I don't think he's in the top 5 of best of all time.  He just got it done that year.  Otherwise I'd probably have to go with Payton or a Faulk.  When faulk was healthy, he still put up stud numbers this year even with that atrocious O-line.  I'd say he's underrated.  Probably not in my top 5 of all time either, but he's definitely top 5 in skills needed for the modern RB.
