Question about Monday Night Music

Welcome back Steg! You were a good luck charm the past 2 weeks in Mile High... you need to spend more time in Denver! What a treat to see that Monday Night game against the Raiders! I haven't felt that good watching a football game since the days of Elway... I can only imagine being there in person... you lucky bastard! Question: I kept hearing a song throughout that game... at first it sounded like Eddie Vedder singing, " Beat the Raiders, Beat the Raiders, Beat the Raiders, tonight!" But then I heard the song again last night in the Packers/Bears game... anyone else know what I'm talking about?

Thanks for the welcome back, WB! The games were great! Jake, or as I have dubbed him, mini-Elway, has definitely arrived!  He really is a perfect fit.  That's what I thought back in '97, though!

As for the music, is it the music you were hearing during home-team kickoffs?  If so, they are saying "Get ready... Get ready... Get ready... (blah, blah, blah)..."!  It's some kind of new thing.  It sounds really cool, in any case.  They also used that "Right here, right now" song on visiting-team kickoffs.  I'm not sure, though, if using these songs is standard or just popular.

The song you heard is last year's 'Southern Crunk Anthem'  "We Ready" by Pastor Troy.

Bingo! I even knew that.  I was chanting it at the games, for Christ's sake.  It's just that such grammatically-butchered English doesn't entrench itself in my mind very well and I guess my fingers just typed out "Get ready" in a subconscious way.  In any case, that's it, at least for the kickoff music!

But, still, does anybody know if it is standard or just popular?  What are you all hearing at other venues?

If by standard, do you mean you here it most everywhere, then I suppose so. I guess you can compare the song to Baha Men's - "Who let the dogs out?" Except this one is actually, how do you say, decent?

I first heard this song being played in an NFL stadium last year during the Pittsburgh games. The Steelers would warm up to the song.

Responding to KJ, I guess it's just popular.  I was thinking, believe it or not, that with all the corporate influence on professional football, sports, these days that maybe, just maybe, stadiums were mandated to play these particular songs at these certain times, i.e. during kickoffs.
