So, with ALL these Eagles (and perhaps Phillies) fans we have around here, I've been meaning (but forgetting) to ask...  What were your feelings on Sunday regarding the demolition of the Vet?  Did you have any feelings about it?  Did any of you happen to attend?

I wasn't there, but saw it live on TV.  I had some mixed emotions about the implosion.  I spent quite a bit of time there as a kid growing up.  It's the only stadium I've ever seen the Eagles and Phillies play in, so there have been a lot of great memories.  As a fan, it wasn't a terrible stadium to see a game in.  The underbelly of the Vet was a different story.  I remember how dirty and cold the hallways outside the locker rooms were even when the place was not yet 10 years old.

The thing that I will always remember about it was the size of the place.  It was huge!  The first time I ever sat in the 700 level I was scared to death.  (Not because of the 700-level fans, but because of the height of the place.)  I also remember the first time I walked around the entire circumference of the Vet.  As a 6 or 7 year old, it seemed like it took forever to get all the way around.

It's interesting that the Vet was built the year after I was born, so I have no recollection of Franklin Field.  My son, who is 10 months old now, will never remember the Vet and will have all of his memories in the Linc and the new Citizens Bank Park until they're both brought down in another 30-some years.

It was also cool (right before the Vet was imploded) to drive down I-95 and see the Vet, the Linc, the new Phillies Ballpark, the Wachovia Center, and the Spectrum all standing next to each other.
