I think the most poignant observation the writer made was the fact that the NCAA is barring Bloom for accepting endorsement money, not to get rich, but to help pay for his Olympic training, yet they have no problem allowing criminals and drug addicts/dealers to play...
Not to mention that they turned down Mike Williams' appeal to return to USC after having the NFL offer him an invitation than reversing their invite as soon as he accepted.
I realize that there was much more to this. However, the NCAA is such a hypocritical organization. It, basically, turns a blind eye to all of the allegations and corruption at Colorado, yet comes down hard on one of the "good guys" in Jeremy Bloom who also hopes to represent our country at the Olympics and maybe bring some air of respectability back to that troubled program.
They turn a blind eye to the felons playing on the field each weekend, yet they come down hard on one of the "good guys" like Mike Williams who got caught in a bad situation and got some bad advice.
